Sound in/out off sync? - Gibbo - 10-28-2008 11:31 PM

Sorry if this has been covered previously, but its not an easy thing to search for.

The major reason I bought my PCH was to replace my DVD player. I've been using anyDVD to burn straight to iso and then copying them to my A-110 and watching them. I must admit though I'm a little disappointed at times.

The picture looks great, and I love the device, but just watched for example american gangster, got to about 1hr 40 in and suddenly realised that the sound and image were a little out of sync, then over the next few minutes it got far worse, it looked like an appaulingly dubbed foreign language film! I got so fed up I flicked back a scene and then fast forwarded back to the point I was at and all seemed ok. Now this seems to have happened a couple of times with various films, all burnt by me.

Should I expect this? is this a problem with anyDVD? is it a problem with the NMT software?

I decided to get a PCH as I thought it would end up being my DVD player and much more, but so far it seems to not even quite match up to my DVD player.

I'd really like some advice.

Hi Gibbo,

I have the same problem with some MKV files, but I heard that in the next update there will be an "Audio shift" option...

Fingers crossed Big Grin

Sorry must squash this one there is no audio shift/lip sync or other some such called feature coming in the next update. Look at the beta changelogs to see what to expect in the next update.

Not that i'm saying it would not be useful at times.

So no hope then? That's a bit crap then, it's not like i'm playing dodgy rips that i've downloaded.

But, there have been fixes to ISO handling that might solve your issues... _might_ .... just wait and see...

I only said that there was no specific audio sync feature coming in the next stable firmware (released today).
There's always hope that it will be either fixed or available in the future, it was a popular feature request.

Remember that when a file goes out of sync, people say quite often pressing pause/stop and then press play again gets the sync back. Pressing a couple of buttons called audio sync would be no lesser task IMO.

Yes, but not all audio shifts are solved by pressing pauze or rewind, usually avi's are fixed with this, but not MKV's.

This doesn't seem to fix my iso's either Sad

I didnt say ALL audio issues would be resolved by what I suggested. I was merely saying that for some files it can be that simple. ISO's files have a fix coming up in the next firmware according to an earlier post so you wouldnt expect it to work now for ISO files. The method I mentioned is usually associated with single video files, avi in particular, not ISO files which are actually playlist of many files.

An A/V sync on the fly for ALL video files played is one of the feature requests, vote for it if there's enough demand then you never know it may get engineering time. I would love to see this feature myself.

Cheers. Hopefully the iso fix will make me happy. I'll check out the changelog.
