I do not seem to understand this completely.
No torrent client on the NMT could directly start a download when you open a torrent on your computer.
There are a couple of options: save the torrent to a location on NMT so the torrent client will automitcally start donwloading.
Two is you download the torrent and choose that file with the web interface of the NMT.

There is a transmission gui, just a client application that displays the torrent info of the NMT transmission. Download will remain on NMT and you can disable your computer while the NMT will keep downloading.

I figured he was looking at something like the bloglines plug-in actually on the PCH - from the comments about not wanting to use the PC at all. Assuming the page is viewable on the PCH, if you select a .torrent link using your remote, it should pass it into the default client. This used to be btpd but is now, according to the release notes, associated with Transmission. I wondered if maybe it was 1.22 specific, haven't tried it TBH.

As you say though, not clear if this is what was being talked about!

Is there an additional program to regulate the ratio (up/down) for transmission 1.51 or do I need to use an other client then?

Ger,
First off, great work on keep us up to date with Transmission... Smile

I have an issue though. After upgrading to Transmission 1.51, the seed ratio feature from TorrentWatch stopped working (it worked great on 1.40). Does 1.51 still incorporate Journey's patch for ratio support?

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51 FINAL - Allbest - 03-06-2009 09:50 AM

Hello, Ger!
Thank u for your soft!
I think that main problem of transmission on current phase is its extremely low responsibility on user requests via driving port. Especially in time when it does some work. Due to this trouble transmission loses to BTPD and cTorrent radically
Thanks!

Is there a way to get BTPD back on my NMT (it's not in Ger's install pack)? Does cTorrent work stable and have ratio controll?

Want to change some settings. FAQ tells to disable transmission first....do you mean to stop the torrent service or something else?

Am I doing something wrong here??? With two active torrents my NMT crashes. What's the max peers and connections that should be set in the settings file? Also, I use one peer poort, is that a problem with transmission 1.51?

Sorry for the loads of questions but I only have trouble now Undecided

Upload speed is NOT ignored, I'm using that here and works like a charm!
No crashes here with 9 running torrents. You might consider reinstalling your NMT Apps (please read first post) and not using a newer transmission. cTorrent is a good client as well but has it's own little configuration issues.

Obviously you doesn't understand me. I am browsing the web page from the player, not from a computer. I can move through the links via remote and when I click on a link that is leading to a .torrent file I have an option to load this torrent into the player's torrent client. That was possible with the older Bit Torrent client. In that case you don't need a computer at all to start a torrent.

Thought so. try re-installing the nmt apps to put the older version of transmission back on your machine - does the file now download with transmission 1.22? If so you may have to retain this 'original' version of transmission and not update to 1.51 just yet!

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51 FINAL - Ger Teunis - 03-06-2009 02:49 PM

Hmm, perhaps we could try to get torrent to open in the new transmission as well.
I'll investigate this after I am finished with a new CSI.

Ger, Dont you ever STOP doing things!!Wink

One thing, maybe a little wierd.

Might be that my PCH gets hotter with the 1.51 Transmission version?

I have 2 fans installed and my dowloads are located in an external USB, so the internal disk is ussually stopped, before this version it was cooler. Of course this is a feelingUndecided

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51 FINAL - narra - 03-08-2009 09:23 AM

Hey guys. Having problems with the install and keep getting "Request cannot be processed". And don't have a Windows machine so I can't use the CSI.

Followed all the instructions. Did the reboot, unrared with different programs, and re-uploaded a few different times. Even reinstalled the original NMT apps and tried again. Can't get it going. Any other suggestions?

Using Fireftp on Firefox and a Mac machine. And had your 1.42 version working before.

Thanks in advance for any help

RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51 FINAL - Ger Teunis - 03-08-2009 10:02 AM

Please try a different unzipper, different ftp client.
Do you have telnet installed?

Thanks for the reply. I tried 3 different unzippers now and 2 different ftp clients and no luck. But I am getting a different response. An error message of sorts that reads (sorry, can't scroll over to get the whole message):

/opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK/installer.cgi: line 22: : not f
/opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK/installer.cgi: line 25: : not f

There's more text to the right but it's cut off.

I do have Terminal for my Mac, but if you have any directions for that, could you walk me through them. (For example, if I have to log into my PH, I don't know the full address).

Thanks
