RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - gtdaqua - 03-30-2009 12:11 PM UPDATE 2: Stopped all torrents in transmission and was seeding 3 torrents in cTorrent. The box hung again after 1 hour. This is getting very critical now! Looks like we have to kill the clutch daemon and test again. But I cant do that as I am away from the box and all seeds have just stopped! RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - Ger Teunis - 03-30-2009 12:13 PM I think that transmission nor ctorrent is the problem. In the nzbget thread I read a post that before the NMT crashes it is not able to create new tcp connections anymore. This sounds like the tcp stack is crashing because of the number of connections. Could you disable transmission using the Setup -> NMT Applications -> Torrent? Try a high peer, high speed download with cTorrent? RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - gtdaqua - 03-30-2009 12:19 PM Ger, so what do we exactly do now? I did not have this problem before with the same number of torrents. Also, I am using only private trackers in cTorrent and possibly there could be only 10 peers on the 3 torrents total. This could not crash the tcp stack. Can we downgrade Transmission to 1.50 or is there a fix coming up? RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - Ger Teunis - 03-30-2009 12:22 PM (03-30-2009 12:19 PM)gtdaqua Wrote: Ger, so what do we exactly do now? I did not have this problem before with the same number of torrents. No fix, first we need to pinpoint the problem. My problems seem to have started after the latest firmware upgrade. The CSI has a 1.40, 1.42 and 1.50 release. Try them all. But I am suspecting that these will crash also. I am really thinking the problem is in the firmware or even in the configuration of it. Please stop transmission. Try to download a large file, high speed, high peer torrent with cTorrent to test it cTorrent is working correctly or not. Also try transmission 1.40 after that. We will have to figure out what is going on here. I don't think it could be the firmware - because I am on the new firmware for past 3 weeks with Transmission 1.51 and the hdx never crashed once! This crashing started after I updated Transmission to 1.51-1. Is there a way to revert to 1.51 via CSI or 1.51-1 has been fully branched with 1.51? cTorrent has not crashed ever but I will check. Anyway, the point is the firmware upgrade happened a good 3 weeks ago and no crashes were experienced. Its been crashing after an update to 1.51-1. Interresting, perhaps my build environment is broke for some reason. I cannot imagine what and why. If something is broke I would expect it to work or not at all. Not until high download speed or even peer count. I'll try to create a new build from scratch (again). Uploads worked here for a long time (75KB/s for a couple of weeks). RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - gtdaqua - 03-30-2009 12:49 PM I dont know. But the dirty thing it takes entire box down with it. I don't know why it would still hang with no torrents running (download/upload). Any approx. ETA on the fix/next release? Edit: Btw, Ger, I have not used your updated 1.51-1 package which you remarked as a repackaged version. I am just using the first release of 1.51-1. Should I grab the new one and try? What exact changes were merged into this repackaged version? RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - Ger Teunis - 03-30-2009 12:53 PM No eta, could you try the newer one? I removed all optimizations on that one, just the bare-bone code compiled without stripping the file as well. (03-30-2009 12:49 PM)gtdaqua Wrote: I dont know. RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - gtdaqua - 03-30-2009 12:59 PM Ok, I got to try that one like in an hour when I get back home. But I am hoping it can't be the firmware because if it is, HDX users are in for trouble. The major firmware happened on Mar 6 and the box has been rock solid since. Its just this 1.51-1 is giving us this new behaviour. I will try to report back in probably in an hour. Are you the only one working on this Transmission project for NMT? Your immediate response is really great and thank you for your awesome support. RE: [transmission] Transmission 1.51-1 FINAL - Ger Teunis - 03-30-2009 01:03 PM Yeah, weirdly enough the previous builds where all okay, same machine and tool set creating the binaries. I'll look into it this evening. Also try to verify that 1.50 and below do NOT crash and 1.51-1 does. Is it still stable with an older firmware + older nmt apps in combination with transmission 1.51? Hi again, Ger. The answer is yes. I have been donwloading for several days without any problem. I might have downloaded 30-40GB successfuly. But yesterday I re-started a paused torrent and it crashed again. I think this must be an issue with that particular .torrent, so nevermind. I reboot PCH, quickly removed that torrent and everything works great again. I'm getting a bit bored with the crash reports, trying to figure out what is going on. What combinations are working and what is not. Ger, I think it is really impossible to make any program to work 100% into de PCH, when the PCH it selfs, with everything original (firmware, nmt aplication, etc), do not even work at 100%. I'm a very happy user or a PCH-A100 with it faulties, even when it crashes and need to restart once in a while .With all the applications people like you are making, increase the use of the PCH, making it much more usefull. I understand your goal to make it 100% fiable, but "don't ask for pears to the apple tree", is what we say in Spain, at least when the PCH is a "little buggy".

Ger, I've been using the 1.51 since the day I wrote this post. I think it is the 1.51-1 build. It has worked smoothly. In order to make things easier (and less annoying) to Ger, here is the combination I am currently using, which works fine: Firmware version: [A110] Firmware 01-17-081023-15-POP-403 NMT apps version: 00-17-081023-15-POP-403 Transmission version: 1.51-1 build Peers per torrent: 10/20 DL limit: 800KB/s UL limit: none (03-30-2009 01:32 PM)dagovima Wrote: Ger, I think it is really impossible to make any program to work 100% into de PCH, when the PCH it selfs, with everything original (firmware, nmt aplication, etc), do not even work at 100%. Totally agree with dagovima. I think that is clear as water that PCH is not a perfect machine. But it works really nice for almost everything it is intented for. Ger, do not try to get Transmission to work 100% of the time for everyone owning a PCH. You're doing a great job and nothing can be said to you but thanks. Everybody else, please take into account that Ger is "just" a software developer, not the manufacturer of PCH. The bug (whatever it is) is a showstopper. So we trying to figure that out. If you are happy with 'showstopper' bugs, then pl carry on. Some of us can't restart once in a while, especially when we are away. Reverted to Transmission 1.50 via CSI Stopped clutch service and verified its stopped. Running cTorrents only with 3 private torrents. HDX uptime: 39 mins However, after terminating clutch service, I can see this: Code: # ps | grep transI will update again after sometime. |
