Oversight only needs read only access to the drive. It does not really need to write nfos any more.
This feature was in case people wanted an indexer/renamer running on the PCH but then had a different jukebox.
However it seems most people running jukeboxes that require PC to update, also run PC based indexers/renamers,
so its not really used much.
catalog nfo write should be set to "never" for most people.

Hello,
First i want to say thanks for the great work you do to make oversight work.
I have an HDX1000 and with the previous version of oversight everything was great all covers were visible but when i did an update of oversight with the NMT CSI all covers went blank.
Could you please tell me what i can do to solve this problem.

Did every single cover go blank or just a lot of them? What do you see instead of the cover? Do you see the movie icon?
Do you have a scan log? if so, please send.
See oversight wiki in my sig for information on sending logs and reverting to previous versions (although generally I dont recommend reverting)

Every cover went blank i see all movie icons with the title of the movie in it, i don't have a scan log or can't find it i have searched this forum how to get a scan log but unfortunally i could not find it so if you please could send me a link were i can find the scan log i will sent it to you.

I'm a big fan of Oversight. Thank you for your continued hardwork Lordy!
I have recently downloaded a compilation of movies. Each of the short movies are showing as seperate movies and covers.
I'd like to have one cover showing and a list of the short movie names showing when i select it. Just the same way that Oversight deals with TV episodes.
Is there any known way to this? Like, mark the folder as a compilation or something?

Question regarding DVD folders. How can I set the nfo file in it for it to be able to detect it. Right now I have the movie name as folder, and then the Video_TS under it with the nfo file but it doesnt seem to recognize or detect the movie.
Any way to start Oversight from the index file links?

Hi Lordy,
I'm using Oversight (v. 0930-2b) on a PCH-A110 along with FeedTime/NZBGet. Shows are successfully arriving from FeedTime/NZBGet unpacked in the /share/Complete folder, but Oversight, which had been working correctly has stopped renaming the files or moving them to the designated TV folder or Indexing them. I think it stopped working at some point after uninstalling/reinstalling new version of Oversight. If I manually move videos into /Share/Video/TV and then invoke a rescan request, Oversight will index them though the renaming doesn't happen.
My settings
scan_paths: /share/Video,/share/Video/Movies,/share/Video/TV,/share/Complete
watch_frequency: 12h
watch_torrents: 1
Is there something else I should be looking at?

I think I found the issue with sample deletion. When setting delete_samples, unpak.cfg sets the line unpak_delete_samples to "1" or "0". In unpak.sh, line 1644, delete_samples() uses unpak_delete_samples to both scan for patterns and to find out whether to delete samples: it does something like "sample_media=$( list_extended_glob_pattern "($unpak_delete_samples)($unpak_video_extension)" | line_count )", searching for (0)(avi|mkv|ts|mpg|wmv) or (1)(avi|mkv|ts|mpg|wmv) instead of using "*sample*|*samp*". Hope this helps.

@borntochill, look in the unpak/catalog logs Search for ERROR or WARNING first before getting too bogged down in detail.

got a very stange issue. i have scanned all my internal HD, no problem there apart from some missing art work, i have now ran a scan just on the USB drive, it is sucessfully picking up the films but i have noticed when i go to settings it shows the number of Movies, Number of Episodes, and something called other, which i have 123 of.
on my USB drive i only have avis, mkvs, and video_ts nothing else.
Browsing oversight i then see a list of random file names such us :
lz4mk8l.mkv
rus6v58.avi
etc etc
nothing happens when i click on them, have you seen this before ?
This only happens on the USB drive.
your help is most appricated.

ok, i think i found whats going on...
on my usb drive i have some sort of recycle bin..oversight was getting stuff from in there, even though its empty..
