Having a bunch of software addon features and such is a cool idea.. when they actually work and you don't have to reinstall the nmt apps every couple of months!!

The CSI itself is not made by Syabas/Popcorn Hour, it's made in own free will and time by a user. As far as I know it does not come with any general warranty or support, apart from the kind efforts shown by the author.

The 3rd party community apps installed via the CSI are also the fruits of hard working voluntary community forces. Developers who spend hours and hours and then decide to share their work, even though some might be imperfect.

Some people seem to take these apps for granted?

I would have changed my mind if I got in hold of some unit I couldn't get custom/community apps installed on, imperfect or not...

(end rant)

@DarkBeer,
As telnet works, that means we can have a peak inside while it tries to contact/install. I don't have my old trusty A100 nearby so I can't go in myself, but I figure it should be possible to get something useful with strace? I hope Ger or someone has an idea what to look for under the hood.

Hi,
yesterday this error happened with my popcorn too. I tried all the things by my own as other people here. Weird problem was that with the new firmware the torrent didn't want to start, just stuck in "starting" phase. Now I uploaded the May firmware however still the same 404 error.

Could you please somebody summarize what is the problem and link the bug to this topic?

My action plan is to do a factory reset and try to get into recovery with the jumper hack: http://support.popcornhour.com/article.aspx?id=1102

However I'm still wondering what is the root cause of this problem and why not a complete firmware upgrade not solve it. Can we do something via telnet? Any idea?

In the 200-series CSI thread one user reported he had the 404-issue with a feb 2010-firmware, people have up/downgraded fw and this is happening in both 100- and 200-series firmware, so I'm a bit hesitant to see the root cause alone in NMT fw.

I've just used both CSI 2.7.0.0 and 2.7.2.0 successfully on a C200 with current Beta1 fw, and previously with current stable. I'm a lucky bastard, I suppose. Undecided

I'm having issue since last update (2.7.2.0)

Currently using Firmware 01-17-090204-15-POP-403 (01.06.2009). I never updated it since I got my nmt.

NMT apps are on internal HDD

Having issue since upgraded CSI to 2.7.2.0. Downgraded to previous didnt fixed the issue.

FAQ suggested to delete /Apps/AppInit witch I did. Didnt fixed the issue.

Torrent service is alway in Starting status

hi,
I wanted to stop the transmission service via the CSI. So I opened it, it told me an update is available. Upgrade went well and when I stopped the transmission service I could not reach anymore the apps.
I reloaded the box and the torrent service for me always in "starting" too and the 404 error fun started.

I guess the new CSI version do something with the popcorn firmware which is unrecoverable currently due to the fact I did many downgrade and upgrade and deep clean.

Please help to establish some kind of pattern or common issue!

NMT Firmware version seems irrelevant, but nonetheless it could be interesting.
CSI version might be relevant, so please include that, also what platform you use it on (Win7, Mac etc.)
What packages did you have installed? (post within [ code ] [ /code ] tags if it's a long list)
When - at what stage - did you get the 404-issue, e.g. what were your last actions(s) with CSI before getting this issue?

I don't know but perhaps there is a log/list of what was installed on your PC?
With telnet you can go in and browse the filesystem, but I doubt there are logs.
Is your start_app.sh still present in the /share/ folder? If so, what does it contain? (post within [ code ] [ /code ] tags)

Win7 64bit

I just stopped the transmission and after I noticed it disappeared I tried to reinstall. But I got the 404 error.

I hear the popcorn takes the file via FTP (harddrive noise) and when it would start to install it says the 404.

there was no and is no start_app.sh

404-issue is persistent despite firmware flashes. Hmm.
Has someone tried to use earlier versions 2.6.* of CSI after getting this issue?

The only previous version I was able to try is 2.1.5.0 because I still have the .exe. Same problem

I had 2.7.0 and it was working. I tried with it and the result is same - 404 error.

I am yet to try with old firmware for my A100. I have all my media on a NAS, I'll try re-flashing it with an older firmware.

Came across something interesting

The only application that I was able to install is aMule 2.2.3-2

FYI: I was so exited when the installation worked that I didnt copy the install log. So here is the log of the REINSTALL

Code:
Stopping currently running aMule... Stopping amule daemon...This is amulecmd 2.2.3 Creating client... Succeeded! Connection established to aMule 2.2.3 --------------------------------------- | aMule text client | --------------------------------------- Use 'Help' for command list > Operation was successful. Ok, exiting aMulecmd... Done
Installing files and configuration... Done
Setting up autostart... /mnt/syb8634/server/amule.sh already set to start on boot, skipping
Done

Starting aMule... Starting amule daemon...Done
NOTE: Make sure you port-forward TCP port 4662 and UDP port 4672 to your NMT.
Browse using your browser to http://PCH-A110:4711 to open aMule webui (password 1234)
or install aMuleGUI and aMuleCMD client 2.2.2 or 2.2.3 (port 4712 and password 1234).

So aMule service is currently running on NMT but still not listing in CSI Installed tab

Hello, I own a A110. It runs on 192.168.1.6 and I got a problem adding "Download Manager v 3.1.7" using CSI. Im connected via TCP cable to router and NMT is also connected via TCP to router (I can access files and see it in network). I get a 404 error after "INSTALL RESULTS" "404 Not FoundRequested file not exist! (404 Not Found)
"

@dc11ab:
In the 200 thread you asked for a dump of the httpd.conf file. Here is the contents of my A100 httpd.conf from /mnt/syb8634/server/php5server/httpd.conf

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - DarkBeer - 02-02-2011 03:01 PM

Another user in the 200 forum determined the problem was the encoding of appinit.cgi. Needs to be changed to Unix. Here are the steps I used to work around this until a permanent fix is made in the NMT installer.

Download notepad++ from http://notepad-plus-plus.org/release/5.8.7
Go into NMT Installer, select package to install, hit next. This step downloads the files to your computer (not the PCH) in a Temp directory under the directory you installed NMT installer. Open the temp dir and open appinit.cgi in Notepad++
In Notepadd++ click edit, EOL conversion, Unix format.
Click File, Save
Go back to NMT Installer and click next again to send it to your PCH for successful install
