You have the NMT apps from NMT installed on the internal HDD right?
What do you have configure for hardware type in CSI's preferences.

I'm experiencing similar behaviour on my PCH A200. I just installed the latest firmware + NMT apps and am unable to install anything via CSI. It looks like it's actually able to upload the files (trying to install lighttpd; I see appinit.cgi, installprepare.cgi and lighttpd.tar on my PCH in the SATA_DISK directory), but, when it all goes wrong when it tries to install them.

So ... the plot thickens

Not sure if it's the NMT ftpd or CSI, but, there is clearly something amiss with the transfer. It seems the upload stops after 10meg.

Quote:-rw-r--r-- 1 nmt nmt 1048576 Feb 25 23:44 lighttpd.tar
-rw-r--r-- 1 nmt nmt 1048576 Feb 25 23:19 mkvtools.tar

next step ... see if i can transfer files larger than 10meg using a standalone ftp client and then try to replace the default NMT ftpd.

Could You guys also try deleting or renaming the apps folder, then reboot the NMT a d try again?

"Could You guys also try deleting or renaming the apps folder, then reboot the NMT a d try again? "

I have made a clean re-install of everything in the apps hdd 3-4 times, everytime formatting the hdd and rebooting. so i think i have this covered, but if you think i should try again or it is somehow different i certainly will.
thx!

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - tkenn1s - 02-26-2011 10:10 AM

Just did and it didn't help. The file is still only 10meg in size.

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - Ger Teunis - 02-26-2011 10:15 AM

At least fairman's problem is: "Unable to write data to the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

What that log line is telling is that something in the otheride (the NMT?) is closing the FTP connection while it is uploading the file.

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - tkenn1s - 02-26-2011 10:17 AM

Alright ... So I ran a couple tests.

If I connect to my NMT from a ftp client and transfer a large file (in my case, a movie), pure-ftpd closes the connection as soon as 10meg of data is transferred.

So, this definitely looks like a problem with the NMT ftp. For some reason it's shutting down the connection.

BTW, I also tried lundman ftpd (see this thread). However, it and CSI don't play well together. Although I can connect just fine using an FTP client, as soon as I connect from CSI, the lundman ftpd crashes.

I believe you're right Ger. From my other tests (transferring a large file using a standalone ftp client), I'm seeing the same behaviour -- the connection is terminated as soon as 10meg is transferred.

I don't see any command-line option that is responsible for this limit.

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - tkenn1s - 02-26-2011 07:47 PM

YES !!! I found a solution that worked for me ... perhaps it'll work for others.

The only thing you really need to do is update pure-ftpd. But, I couldn't find any updates for just the ftp daemon. Many thanks to user dc11ab for pointing me to Linux Terminal Utilities here. LTU contains a bunch of really good stuff; including a replacement pure-ftpd application.

The package is meant to be installed using CSI. But, since CSI doesn't work, you'll have to install it by hand; which is not as difficult as it seems. To install manually, follow these steps:
  1. Download LTU from the link above
  2. Put the .zip file onto a USB thumbdrive and insert it into the PCH (or; you can copy to your PCH via samba)
  3. Telnet to your PCH; from this point on, all commands should be performed on the PCH unless otherwise mentioned
  4. Create the final resting spot for LTU
    Code:
    # mkdir -p /share/Apps/LTU
  5. Move to the LTU directory
    Code:
    # cd /share/Apps/LTU
  6. Unpack the LTU archive (you have to unpack two different archives); adjust the pathname to the .zip file according to how you copied it to your PCH
    Code:
    # unzip /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/USB_DRIVE_B-1/csi_ltu_pch_x200_v073.zip
    # tar xf LTU.tar
  7. Now, we finally configure LTU and update pure-ftpd
    Code:
    # ./appsetup.sh install
  8. (Optional) If you want to update your system with the rest of the LTU goodness (e.g. updated commands, new telnetd, etc...), you'll want to finish the configuraiton
    Code:
    # ./appscript.sh start
After a short while, your telnet session may die (it did for me). This is perfectly normal as the 'start' script will replace the telnet daemon (which you're in the process of using) with the new one. Wait a little while (maybe 2 or 3 minutes) and just reboot (i.e. unplug it) your PCH. When the system comes back up, you'll have new daemons running. Be aware that your telnet login will have changed. The default login/password is root/1234. You can change that by editing the file /share/Apps/LTU/configure.
  9. (Optional) Let CSI know that LTU is an installed package.
    Code:
    # touch .installed

I'm sure Ger will correct me for any mistakes I might have made. But, this worked for me and I can now install applications through CSI. Hope it works for you.

Sorry to be such a newbie, but how do you telnet to the C-200? When I try, I just get
"Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed"

Thanks,

Ron

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - tkenn1s - 02-28-2011 06:33 AM

To be honest, telnet "just worked" for me on my A200. Are you on the latest firmware? I seem to recall reading on the forums that telnet support was added (or was going to be added).

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - dc11ab - 02-28-2011 08:32 AM

ronq01: you need a recent C200 firmware (perhaps you have and older version) and you need to check if firewalls/security software on your PC allow the connection.

Ι think i am an even bigger newbie, I don't really know yet how to telnet at all, and even if i suppose google can
help me, I really wonder is this the only, the necessary and the final solution?
I wish it just worked as it used to and is supposed to. Is that only a matter of time or we have to apply the telnet solution?
thx!
