while everyone still seems to think this is a FTP problem, and not a problem with CSI, i use to use CSI on my pch-c200 no problem, all the same hardware, until recently when everyone started posting these errors. i'm not sure exactly what is causing it, but even though it seems like it's the FTP, how come it worked until recently? i'm willing to bet it's something more specific with CSI

when CSI uploads it stops after a meg, but i can use flashFXP and upload files of any size

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - tkenn1s - 03-01-2011 07:04 PM

Interesting. That is actually different from my experience. Originally, CSI stopped after uploading 10meg. I reinstalled NMT apps (reformatting my drive) and then I could only upload 1meg. This was true for both CSI and using ftp from my NAS (slackware based).

It was only until I updated ftpd on my NMT that I was able to upload without any issues from CSI.

well, just another reason i've moved on from popcorn hour to better things, and use them in spare rooms, until they are replaced.

I don't understand how your logic computes, but that's OK, no need for you to elaborate.

My PCH-C200 is at firmware level 02-04-101104-21-POP-408-000. Should telnet be included in this level?

I have tried telneting to the PCH-C200 with my firewall disabled. The connection is refused with "Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed".

I think it was introduced with the early 2011 firmware release, so that's why you see that response.

If you want to stay on the older firmware version you need to install telnet manually. This was typically done via the CSI: telnet + busybox packages. The original hack method described somewhere at lundman.net.

Hello, is it possible to add to CSI, transmission v.2.04 - my tracker don't run with 2.13 and 2.21. Or how could I install file http://repository.nmtinstaller.com/Applications/transmission-2.04-nmt.zip. I've copied install.html, appinit.cgi, transmission.tar on folder SATA_DISK in my Popcorn C-200. I've changed permission on 775 with appinit.cgi. Please help me what should I do next. Best regards.

Use File -> Install from file in CSI and you should be fine.

The only thing you really need to do is update pure-ftpd. But, I couldn't find any updates for just the ftp daemon. Many thanks to user dc11ab for pointing me to Linux Terminal Utilities here. LTU contains a bunch of really good stuff; including a replacement pure-ftpd application.

The package is meant to be installed using CSI. But, since CSI doesn't work, you'll have to install it by hand; which is not as difficult as it seems. To install manually, follow these steps:
  1. Download LTU from the link above
  2. Put the .zip file onto a USB thumbdrive and insert it into the PCH (or; you can copy to your PCH via samba)
  3. Telnet to your PCH; from this point on, all commands should be performed on the PCH unless otherwise mentioned
  4. Create the final resting spot for LTU
    Code:
    # mkdir -p /share/Apps/LTU
  5. Move to the LTU directory
    Code:
    # cd /share/Apps/LTU
  6. Unpack the LTU archive (you have to unpack two different archives); adjust the pathname to the .zip file according to how you copied it to your PCH
    Code:
    # unzip /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/USB_DRIVE_B-1/csi_ltu_pch_x200_v073.zip
    # tar xf LTU.tar
  7. Now, we finally configure LTU and update pure-ftpd
    Code:
    # ./appsetup.sh install
  8. (Optional) If you want to update your system with the rest of the LTU goodness (e.g. updated commands, new telnetd, etc...), you'll want to finish the configuraiton
    Code:
    # ./appscript.sh start
After a short while, your telnet session may die (it did for me). This is perfectly normal as the 'start' script will replace the telnet daemon (which you're in the process of using) with the new one. Wait a little while (maybe 2 or 3 minutes) and just reboot (i.e. unplug it) your PCH. When the system comes back up, you'll have new daemons running. Be aware that your telnet login will have changed. The default login/password is root/1234. You can change that by editing the file /share/Apps/LTU/configure.
  9. (Optional) Let CSI know that LTU is an installed package.
    Code:
    # touch .installed

I'm sure Ger will correct me for any mistakes I might have made. But, this worked for me and I can now install applications through CSI. Hope it works for you.

I upgraded my firmware to the latest level. This gave me telnet.

I followed all nine steps precisely by copying the commands and pasting into the telnet window. Although everything seemed to go ok, my FTP problem remains.

However, before I return my unit for service, I need to make sure that the LTU package installed correctly. According to your instructions, I was expecting my telnet login to change. Before installing LTU, telnet did not require me to provide a userid and password. After the LTU intall, I was expecting to have to enter root/1234, but it came up the same as before.

So I looked into the /nmt/apps/bin directory and here's part of what I see:

500 95008 Mar 15 2009 pure-ftpd
root 108880 Mar 6 17:51 pure-ftpd.new
500 27640 Mar 15 2009 pure-pw
root 27928 Mar 6 17:51 pure-pw.new
root 545188 Mar 6 16:20 transmission-daemon
500 5435634 Mar 15 2010 transmission-remote

Now I'm not a shell script programmer, but appscript.sh looks like it copies, for example, pure-ftpd.new into pure-ftpd. That has not happened.

But running appscript.sh (Step 8) was optional, so I should have had the latest pure-ftpd even if Step 8 failed.

So I executed the command "/nmt/apps/bin/pure-ftpd -h".
The output included the line "pure-ftpd v1.0.21", but I'm still not sure if I'm in the correct directory to do this check.

Can you tell me how to verify that I have correctly upgraded pure-ftpd?

I think i do something wrong but i can't find the problem anywhere. When I try to start the downloaded file "NMT Community Software Installer" my pc responds with the normal windows sign saying it is busy. After that nothing happens. I have Windows 7 64 bit and framework 4.0. No error log no sign that something is wrong. What am i missing?Huh

Hi, I get an error trying to download NMTDVR. I tried downloading other programs and no problem.
What to do?

Doesn't it work with only a usb drive?
