No problem, most work is done by the package maintainers now Smile
I personally even moved away from nmt devices lately for my media viewing, but I try to keep the stuff running for you guys.

Out of curiosity what are you using?

I moved to a Synology DS111 + an Apple TV2 + XBMC.
XBMC is really awesome to be honest (although NMT plays a few more wonky formats then XBMC does)

Not to derail this thread (this will be my last question) but how do you find 1080p/24 playback on the AppleTV2 with XBMC? I've read conflicting reports. Also, are you using the DLNA/UPnP from the NAS or just using shares?

Sure, you can use PM if you like for any follow up questions.

Regarding this one: AppleTV2 does use a 720p output. The developers of XBMC on AppleTV2 don't yet know if it's a hardware limit or limit by software (there might be a possibility for 1080p output, but no guarantee).

It down-scales 1080p very nicely. I have watched 12GB 1080p via my NAS to the Apple TV2. XBMC is able to stream via upnp, smb, ftp and such where smb is the best choice.

Thank you! You've just convinced me. I've been on the fence for a while about it. Where I would like to use it is best for viewing 720p media anyways. My concern was the possibility of having to re-encode the 1080p media for the AppleTV2. My setup would be very similar to yours. Thanks again.

One thing; hardware decoding is only supported on h264 content.
Best is to use BDrips and no real acvhd releases as far as I can tell.

But: nothing beats the NMT regarding media type support. XBMC is way more picky.

My CSI does not show any of the applications being installed, while the NMT indeed has them.

Is there any way to fix this ?

Here is the last couple of lines from the ErrorLog.csv file:

You might want to reinstall CSI or even .net
It's a bad crash outside CSI code, are you using Mono?

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - dimmis - 05-29-2011 08:05 PM

Can CSI get installed in an A-110 from a usb stick? Not to run but to get installed from.....
If it needs to run from the stick it will also help me.

Thanks

Using Mono (under mac os X).

----

In any case, posted another thread in which I mention that NMT Apps never progress from Starting into Running, thus unable to access the box via CSI (no FTP).

Not sure how to proceed except reformat the HD and lose the content.

It seems your Mono also is giving lots of problems.
You might want to try another mono version (older or newer stable).

Could you rephrase your question? I don't understand what are you asking for. You want to run CSI installer from an USB stick or do you want to install NMT apps on an USB stick?

Thanks Ger,

I did install a later version of mono. Not much difference there, given that the 'install phase' of CSI pops up with an error and then crashes. I am assuming due to the ftp unavailability.

----

It seems to me as if there are scenarios where the box seems as if it is 'bricked', even though it should be possible to let the installer do a replacement/restore of the NMT Apps to resolve the observed problems.

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - Ger Teunis - 05-31-2011 10:10 AM

Never had a brick situation before and I am almost sure there is not situation.
The integration is very well isolated from the NMT's firmware and apps just to prevent that.
You have Mono issues; you have weird in interface (part of mono) crashes which has nothing to do with NMT, FTP or apps.

There is an elaborate FAQ, you might want to check there.
But if the app is crashing I am almost sure it's Mono related and not NMT related.

I know that is the symptom ...

However, since ftp is not running (verified via command line), CSI will not be able to access it anyway.

I am trying to get down to the root cause that the network applications (ftp, samba) are not started, which I believe are preventing CSI from access to the box, thereby thwarting my plan to Deep Clean.

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.7.2 ** UPDATED DEC 28th ** - dimmis - 05-31-2011 10:58 AM

Thanks for your help, what i really wanted to do is to install CSI in the HDD through a usb stick since there is no other way for me right now.
As i did with nmt apps, although FTP and Myihome still not working......
I 'm pretty desperate since i want to avoid formating my hdd.
I also saw in another thread which i cannot find again Sad , that low disk space in the partition that NMT apps are installed, also creates problems. And out of the 250gb in that partition, few kb are available.
I really dont know how this happened since i use very few apps and i'm not a linux expert to find a way to clean unwanted files in there.
