RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - tuck1s - 03-30-2010 12:37 AM Firstly a big Thanks to temm, this is a real step forward in usability for the PCH! Well done! A couple of tips for others: I ran through this tonight, the Telnet installation (to internal HDD) seemed to run, but ended in a "white screen". So I hit Home on the normal remote, and the install files had gone. , and a new "bin" folder now exists. Tried putting files on again, chmod etc. and then got a message during install, on the TV screen, saying the telnetd port was already bound .. so, I guessed was actually working. I could in fact telnet into the box so OK! Note to Vista and Windows 7 users: To test the busybox26 installation has worked from your PC, you have to enable Telnet client deliberately, in Programs & Features - if you've not already done so - see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Telnet-frequently-asked-questions Another tip: If you have done an internal HDD install, make sure the busybox26 location is set on the iphone app "settings" page to IP address x.x.x.x (this is the address of your PCH box - best if it's a static IP I think!) Startup Hard disk / busybox26 location Hard disk /bin On the Startup path, this is something you can change - for example you can put /Music so that the iPhone app starts at the top of your music collection. A few funnies noticed with working from the internal hard disk (A 1 TB Western Digital) - Directory Empty error message pops up a few times, the first time a folder is accessed. Once the remote has got it, it seems better/more reliable. - Occasionally a folder contents are listed twice, i.e. 01 song1 02 song2xyz 03 song3abc 01 song1 02 song2xyz 03 song3abc I'm using flac files by the way (approx 140 first-level folders under Music, total of around 200 named album files under that - 80 GB music in total). Wireless connection is 54Mbit, very close to the iPod (line of sight), Linksys WRT-54GX-v2 I wonder if the filing system is sometimes not responding fast enough to the iPod app, and then this very occasionally causes the iphone end to get a valid response, plus a slow response to the previous request concatenated? I did wonder whether SAMBA or NFS would be a better way to fetch lists of folders etc. rather than telnet .. although I can see you need something special to handle the remote commands. I was going to mention that Album Art and track names etc. when playing would be nice! latest NMT s/w 01-17-100317-15-POP-403-000 and NMT apps: 00-17-091216-15-POP-403 NMT Remote version 1.4.11 iPod Touch version 3.1.3 RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - temm - 03-30-2010 07:11 AM (03-30-2010 12:37 AM)tuck1s Wrote: - Directory Empty error message pops up a few times, the first time a folder is accessed. The last update i issued v.1.5.12 on Saturday is in review and should address this correctly. The update process usually takes a couple of days. Teo RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - tjobing - 03-30-2010 10:09 AM Hi again. I was just wondering, is it possible to get into myiHome from the application? So you could see what's in the myiHome-server? Thats how I'm using my PCH. If that is possible, what should be the start path? RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - oatnog - 03-30-2010 10:27 PM Hi - this is great - an app I have been waiting for. well designed, and much needed. Unfortunately it is only partly working on my A110 (telnetd and busybox installed using community installer, my HD is solid-state, but behaves as a HD) -- the remote pad works beautifully, but on the media browser there are sometimes directories missing, and only ocasionally can I see the file contents (MP3 files) and NEVER can I actually play them. I hope there is a solution to this - I look forward to writing a great review! -Nick RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - temm - 03-31-2010 10:38 AM (03-30-2010 10:27 PM)oatnog Wrote: Hi - this is great - an app I have been waiting for. well designed, and much needed. Hi Nick, to be able to play the files busybox26 (not busybox) should be installed correctly. The other issue with directories entries, some users are experiencing this and i have issued an update since last Saturday. This is delayed more than usual from Apple and it is still pending. [/quote] Hi I can't see the server from the application at all, but I'm not an tecnical wizard, so it might just be my mistake ![]() Kristian RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - Piedro - 03-31-2010 10:52 PM Just updated to version 1.5.12. Thanks for adding the 'Enter' key! I did a fast look and it's getting better and better, keep up the good work! For your information I have some quick results:
Is it possible to sort first on folders and then files? Now its only sorted on alphabet, files and folders unsorted. Gr, RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - oatnog - 04-01-2010 11:54 AM I used the "community installer for NMT" to install telnetd because the instructions in http://www.lundman.net/wiki/index.php/NMT:telnetd left my head spinning. telnetd seems to be working, but apparently it may not have installed busybox26. so I put busybox26 in a directory /aps (I don't know how to get to tmp and I am not linux savy) and pointed the iphone ap to this dir in settings. I still can't play music though - so I suppose I need to chmod on busybox26 ?? Is there a way for a stupid person like me to do this? The other problem is that even the March30 version of media controller is messing up directories. If there is only one sub directory inside a directory (e.g. one album inside an artist directory) then it is invisible. If there are n subdirectories it sees n-1. RE: NMT remote iPhone native app. - biggo - 04-01-2010 01:44 PM First of all, thank you for the new update. I was looking forward to using the new play feature, that continues playing the remaining files in a folder. However, it doesn't work ![]() Screen says: "Could not play" for a few seconds, and then returns to the PCH menu. Playing one song using enter, works fine. Any suggestions? However, it doesn't work Hi, First replying to Piedro and oatnog there seems to be a bug with the directories and i'll see what's going on. I have tried this feature (continuous play) with small and large directories and it works. There was a problem with special characters but i think i have them covered. Could you see if there are any special charaters in the files names? Also try a small directory with 3 or 4 songs with simple names. Thanks. I really don't understand why. Anybody else who have had the same experience, or anyone who knows what I'm doing wrong? Kristian |
