Ooops ... and the configuration settings and firmware are stored on the same flash chip? This reminds me of another device I encountered some years ago, I can't remember what it was - perhaps a modem or router.

The firmware and the configuration settings were held in the same flash chip. One of the config settings was dynamic and being re-written very frequently. Of course, this meant that the flash chip write cycle count limit was reached rather quickly, and many of the devices were suffering early failures.

I suggest that the PCH s/w engineers look very carefully at the frequency and method of writing to the flash.

The only thing which would suggest that this isn't the problem is that the beta testers (and the developers) must be exercising the flash chip much more than the rest of us ... how many of them have suffered failure of the flash?

OK, i've read the whole thread looking for other users reporting same problems - nothing, so here goes....

// Before 7th May Firmware Update

* Playback stuttering.
Previously if I was torrenting with Tranmission 1.90+ and I played back an MKV from the local HDD, the playback would stutter at random times, and sometimes completely lock up.
The SAME thing would happen when streaming to my A-100 (Wireless in the bedroom) - C200 is off/standby with torrents running. After a few minutes of playback over myiHome in my bedroom it would stutter/freeze. Sometimes a full hardware reset would be needed on the C200.

No problemo. Just stop torrents before playing back ANY media, local or remotely using C200 as the source. A workaround that was OK for me (being that transmission 1.90+ was a CSI installation)

// After 7th May Firmware update.

SAME ISSUES, regardless of active torrents! C200 playing from local HDD, playing on A100 streaming from C200. All BROKEN!

SEND HELP!

For anyone concerned about BD retail disc compatibility it was noted that this had fallen with this release. Personally I also have the Bourne Trilogy, Pineapple Express and a few others that won't play, most have BDLive on the disc.

The reason why this firmware was released on this issue rather than more time spent trying to fix BD playback is because the new Sigma SDK.libs have a new BD playback engine and HDMI improvements in it. So there was no point spending anymore time on the old BD playback engine as it's now being replaced.
This may make a bit more sense as to why a firmware that reduces BD playback was released and make you feel that they do know what you are experiencing.

idk what to think of this firmware....

to add: This (TCP receive window) setting has screwed everything up. Network speeds are all over the place. Dodgy

I set the TCP window size to 17,520 on my C200 and this gave the best performance. I use Microsoft Windows 2003 server and Windows 7.

Kind regards,

Steve

Hi,
After upgrade new firmware, my network speed decrease from 10Mb/s to 5 Mb/s ! Sad
What's the best value for TCP Windows size ? There are different answers...!

Thanks for your help.

Got the latest firmware update, however i cannot get my shares back, ftp, samba, they are all stopped. I cannot highlight them either. At the top of the NMT apps it says the NMT and Firmware don't match. Can you shed any light please

Could someone official Werner/Steve etc. please confirm that there's not a pattern developing when upgrading to this firmware and the failures afterwards. Have only heard about a few with failures, but if there's a risk that the chip etc. is being beaten with this firmware, I hope they will say something, because I won't run that risk and will promply flash back a firmware, so I won't fry my 2 C-200.

I had the same, reinstalled my NMT apps (In maintenance tab, there should be a dedicated button) and voila... (had to update and restart transmission via CSI though)

@bjur : apologies for not being Syabas but you will always get most failures when updating. Always been the case with anything you update/
ALL beta testers have been running this firmware and testing for weeks. We have updated 6 times in between aswell!

With regards NMT Apps not matching, you need to update BOTH the firmware AND the NMT Apps. Download the firmware onto your PC and follow these steps:-

there are differing answers as everyones network is different.

Default it 5920. If you have no problems then you can try pushing up the number, if you run into problems at 5920 then try smaller numbers.

Quote:Default it 5920.
May be you mean 5290? Wink As I can see in my C-200...

P.S.
From MSDN
Note For 10 and 100 Mbps Ethernet connections, the receive window is usually set to 17,520 bytes (17 KB rounded up to 12 1460-byte segments).

My C-200 is still doing this also. It seems to only happen when I use HDMI audio going to my Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50" Plasma TV. and then via optical to my Logitech Z-5500 speakers.
In another forum I have seen others mention this problem for this TV using HDMI audio from other devices, with claims that it is a problem with the Panasonic.
For me, only the C-200 is doing it, all my other sources work fine. I figure there is some mismatch in the C-200 HDMI audio output and the Panasonics input.
I just ordered a A-200 and will give it a try when it gets in.
I can bypass the problem if I use the Ambery AU-HDMICP HDMI LPCM 7.1 5.1 Multi-Channel Audio Decoder audio breakout box and send the individual channels to my Logitech Z-5500 speakers.

+1 here. My unit fried 24 hours after the upgrade. Might have been a coincidence. The shop I bought it 2 weeks ago replaced the unit for me. I upgraded to Firmware 02-02-100214-19-POP-408 (02-01-100119-19-POP-408 Apps) (16.03.2010) but do not dare to flash to the latest one.

Any official reaction what the problem might have been? Just coincidence or a firmware issue?

Peter.
