Beta Tester Requests

I, as a non (official) beta-tester, would like to help.
1.If I knew how.
2.Maybe by not asking WHEN and putting my efforts in doing my best to use the C-200 at its most, as it is.
Which I do, starting from 2th of Oct. 2009.
Hoping for the best of HD media players to reveal itself to us, I'll be patient.
Thank you all.

Edit: I just found out HOW(Beta testers Requests link):
1.Solved
2.Partially solved(I'll try to input my issues, if not already put to your attention)

I have the same issue as beeper, HDD doesn't stop spinning anymore.
I've set the "search for NZB file" time of nzbget to 0, and tested with and without the app StopActiveHDDStandby.
Doesn't make a difference.
Also with this firmware i discovered that it doesn't play certain wmv files (or the sound of them) anymore, which the previous firmware did play.

The audiocodecs the file needs according to my PC are (PC plays it fine btw):
Quote:- Audio Format:
Code: 0x0055
Name: WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3 (MP3)
Vendor: ISO/MPEG

The following codecs all claim to be capable of processing this format:

--> {Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (advanced)}
{ffdshow Audio Decoder}
--> {MPEG Layer-3 Decoder}

The wmv files are in fact ASF:
video/x-ms-asf (i can't render the file, so no more info availble)

And it also doesn't recognise FLV files, but maybe that has always been the case.

Same issue as I had. It *is* the nzb file search thingy. Set it to disabled and reboot your NMT 2 or 3 times (turn it off and press delete on the remote, or hold the off button for multiple seconds). Mine was fixed after like 2 reboots (somehow NZBget is really stubborn in using new settings.

Hit "Play" instead of "Enter".

Normally i would be ok with this issue but i have just removed all my local storage from the popcorns and moved everything to my remote server. I know it doesn't have to be fast to be able to stream but ive found that the link can just cope with one of these streams but if there is a dropout or stutter in the stream for even a second the buffer is not high enough to come back and it will break down or the sound will loose sync and not come back...

It must be an issue for other people aswell because most reviews i read on the c-200 complain of the same problem but because they are intial reviews they put it down to a firmware bug not a hardware flaw.

I dont compress anything down and just store them on the server so the files are big and it was getting ridiculous as files that were needed were always on a popcorn unit out of reach Sad
What are you running to serve the files over the network? Do you have the option to change the NIC card on the server? Have you tried a different source over the network?

Okay, that solves it, but how does nzbget starts a new download now?
The interval is disabled, so it won't start an new nzb file now.

If i manually Add NZB file to download queue, i get an error:
Error: Check the path and the permissions for the upload directory (option NzbDir)

Which is impossible, the path is correct and i do have permission.

Edit:
found it.
press SCAN in the control panel. Tongue
a little inconvenient, but it works, hopefully they correct this spindown issue again in the next firmware.

now only the problems with the audio in some video files need to be restored.
Maybe i'll go back to the previous firmware and wait till these problems are restored in the next update.
This firmware is mostly changed because of Blueray stuff, which i never use anyway.

thanks so far.

i have tried numerous sources, switches and replacing the cable run to the popcorn...

i am running a freeNAS box with a 5 disk raid array. It has 2 network cards and has no trouble streaming with devices from other companies or to computers. There are no issues with the server it has more than enough speed to supply a small business let alone a home network...

I have managed to improve streaming by increasing the packet size to 9000 on the popcorn hours but the stream still likes to play up when its pushed and its still patheticly slow if you ever want to move a 50gb bluray across, thats if the popcorn actually decides to show the network shares which it likes to randomly fail at also.

BUG: the c-200 crashes both via FTP and SMB when trying to transfer files on the HD.

It becomes completely unresponsive and I have to power off and on!

Can anyone give an update on the state of the latest beta? Is it close to being released?

Many thanks,

Come out with the new firmware already!!! For F-sake!! It's been 2 and a half months already since the last crap-update. What's the hold-up. This list of fixed things isn't long enough or something??
