1.) we didn't move resources to popbox, why should we do that when popbox is developed in USA and not it Malaysia like the PCH Units.
2.) the popbox use the same Firmware Code as the C200 last public release, so because we are in that thread it is based on that firmware.
3.) the new SDK took very long already to get it working, because there where really strange issues where no one would be happy with it, or would you like to see issues like that
  • no Sound after resume
  • Setting DD or DTS to PCM sends RAW Signal(around 5 times out of 10)
  • Setting DD or DTS to RAW sends PCM Signal(around 5 times out of 10)
  • after playback DTS-HD no audio on DTS
  • sometimes no way to get Sound at all

and many more really strange issues where we had to wait for Sigma to fix them now! which finally gets fixed last week, last week there was a plan to release a RC1 which didn't happen because we had 2 bugs in the build, which they are fixing now, so this week should come now the RC1 and then i hope we can bring it to the public if nothing strange gets reported by betatesters anymore.

About fixes inside the Releasenotes, it is true that we fixed some stuff which affects some users, but that doesn't mean that anything else is working perfect, and issues with output are critical issues!

Sorry for the long delay but there is no way to release it anytime sooner.

Regards,
Werner

Thanks Werner Smile

This might get me in trouble but here's what's not stated in the beta changelogs because these are the following issues where the beta testers have been particularly active and saw first hand during our tests;

- ASS/SSA using new engine.

This will allow very elaborate subtitle performance. The goal is to match subtitle performance on VLC which can support colors/positions/videoke even using multiple fonts.

- HFS+ partition support

Mac Users need not feel like 2nd class citizens and have to resort to all sorts of workarounds to adapt their environment to owning a 200 series PCH.

- Support for Hard Drives greater than 2TB

Future proofing since Hard Drives continue to grow in size.

- Better AAC support/performance

If we continue our dependence on commercial Audio codecs, licensing will continue to be high. If we already use open source video codecs, open source audio codecs should also be supported and encouraged.

Thank you, Werner. Here to save the day as usual. Big Grin

If you had to wait for Sigma, then that explains everything to me. I think we all know how slow they can be by now. I'm not pointing any fingers, but I think maybe it would help calm people down if we "ordinary users" could get some status updates like this every now and again.

Anyway, thanks again. I will be waiting in anticipation for the new firmware.

The problem is also we only know since friday where i received the second testfirmware that the again newer SDK now finally fix the strange issue we were trying to fix over the last weeks (useless development resources put in)
the point is customers don't care about it, we are the company who sell the units, anyway also Sigma is trying there best but sometimes it is not as easy as it look, driver development can often break stuff pretty hard and then you can't just go back because 1000 of other stuff would be also affected Sad, anyway the new SDK works pretty good and with the fixes we also put in, i think the next firmware will make many happy, but for sure there will be again complains, if there wouldn't then there would be something wrong Wink, it s simply the human nature.

Regards,
Werner

Respect Werner, you're THE man!

Only wishing you would pass by a little bit more often and tell us what's going on. Ppls get frustrated and making false assumptions. Actually lately i'm just checking this thread daily whether you bring us some news. Keep up the good work and looking forward for the next release!

Regards,
Bert

Any news on the long awaited YcBcr output and deep color?
Is there any chance we'll have it some day soon on the c200?

If you have mentioned the words popcorn, C-200, A-200 etc on Xtreamer foriums they would delete your post... Smile

(same for HD Audio before the release of X Pro, X 2010... Xtreamers have a very "democratic" forum.. they delete almost everything Smile )....

Oh, I know about their forums - I often visit just for fun. I don't think I've ever come across a worse run forum than that; it's hilariously bad. Also, the "even the Xtreamer" statement wasn't meant to be a compliment for the Xtreamer, rather the opposite. Big Grin

For the record, I would never ever consider swapping my C-200 for an Xtreamer, a media player that doesn't even do 23,976p correctly.

I didn't see it in any of the beta changelogs.

How do test for this? I did some backreading and there seems to be some debate how to test because it's quite subjective meaning some people can tell the difference and some can't.

Mediainfo reports a typical rip of a BD disc's m2ts stream that it's only 8-bit "Bit Depth"

There are no Deep Color Blu-rays. Nor can there be. It's not in the Blu-ray spec.

the problem is there is no content at all so how should we check or verify that they are working!?!?
If someone has video testclips then please forward them to me.
