Simple question. - humanman42 - 01-05-2008 10:39 PM I looked for a bit but wasnt asnwered clearly enough for me to take a chance. I just took out my 500gb hd from my mediagate to put into my PCH. it has like 300gb of stuff on it. Will i have to format it inside the PCH? thanks casey - Philos - 01-05-2008 10:45 PM Yes. The PCH will reformat the drive and partiton it in 3 partitions. 1 for the apps, 1 for paging and the rest for storage crap - humanman42 - 01-05-2008 10:52 PM i was hoping that wouldn't be the case. looks like i have a long day crap - humanman42 - 01-05-2008 10:52 PM will it do it automaticly? of do you have to click yes to proceed? - Philos - 01-05-2008 10:53 PM If you put the harddrive in, it will not automaticaly format it. You need to go into setup and setup the hdd. Edit: I guess you need to do it via setup, could also be that the pch recognises the drive and automaticaly askes you to set it up, but it wont format it without asking. awesome. - humanman42 - 01-05-2008 10:55 PM ok, thats good to hear. i plugged it in and didn't notice it tuned on automatically. That would have sucked. Alright. Thanks for the help. Now i just need to backup all this stuff. - Syabas - 01-07-2008 08:08 AM The NMT will not automatically format your HDD. If your old HDD already has a partition with supported FS (EXT2, EXT3, NTFS, FAT, HFS+) it will be mounted read-only. To setup the HDD for NMT apps, use the Setup->Maintenance->NMT setup wizard. |
