Digital video recorder for TV to play on NMT?
Hi.

Can anyone recommend a good DVR in order to record things in good quality that can be watch using the NMT?

I was looking at some of the ones that use a cablecard but it seem to be locking everything in a specialized WTV format that can only be viewer in windows 7.

Do you guys use any type of video recorder in order to get stuff for your NMT?

Thanks.

I have a Win7 box with a tuner (non-cablecard) that records to .wtv, but I use VideoReDo to both cut commercials and convert to .mpg in one step. Step 2, copy it to the nmt. So far, I've been very happy with this setup, though I do wish step 2 was faster.

Do you live in an area that requires a cablebox to get tv channels?

Thanks.

I have a tv tuner card in my media sever to capture tv. I use a cable box to provide all the digital channels. I use GBPVR on the server to see the guide, manage recordings, etc (I can see the GBPVR interface on the PCH A-100 and every PC, the GBPVR interface does not work with the A-200) I also use videoredo to strip out all the commercials etc before making them available for streaming. I don't copy anything to the PCH.

Yes and no. My provider still feeds basic cable over analog (NTSC) and local HD over ClearQAM. My tuner card can do NTSC/ATSC/QAM. Thus, I get network HD plus A&E, Discovery, FX, ComedyCentral, etc. Premium channels would require a cablebox or cablecard tuner.

RE: Digital video recorder for TV to play on NMT?
I did lone a popcorn hour A100 from a college to test and on this system the .WTV format did work fine. So I bought an A200 and I’m surprised that this newer model can’t handle the .wtv format.
I’m disappointed and hope they will add this format in future software updates.

RE: Digital video recorder for TV to play on NMT?
So, what I am hearing if that the DVR available on a PC build system do not produce a format that the popcorn hour can play without some kind of manual reforming with the videoredo system except for the older A100 models?

Video redo is something that requires you to manually convert every individual file? Is there any automated batch conversion method ?

The popcorn hour is suppose to be a media tank, I wonder why it does not support the format on DVR computer systems record in?

Are the DVR manufacturers intentionally putting the video in a strange format so you have to use their own software or should the popcorn hour really work on supporting these formats as well?

Thanks for your help.
