Because your nmt is kinda slow now it might not close transmission in time. So there might be a change a torrent will need checking.

If you really want to know what is causing the slowdown: install telnet then open telnet to the NMT and start the command 'top'.

Perhaps something else might eating up your cpu cycles.

I did that already, that's how I know that Transmission is the one eating my cpu cycles

I will do the following this evening:
1. Pause the active downloads
2. Stop the transmission process
3. Use top to check if it is really stopped
4. Reboot the Popcorn
5. Check how it's running after reboot
6. Post back here
