Anyone tried hd dvd file demuxed on popcorn hour?
Hey the specs say that the popcornhour can play vc1 files. Has anyone tried to use evodemux (rebuild) on the hd dvd and use the vc1 extension(video) and eac3 ext for audio and try to play that on the Popcornhour?

yeah, it can't play evobs yet (being worked on), but using mp2tsme or scenarist to remux the required streams into m2ts works fine. mkv is also an option, atho you have to tinker with the audio in most cases.

MKV is not an option since in most cases it won't play, due to high bitrate videos.
Unless you re-encode it, then M2TS is the only way to go. MKVs stutter. Panasonic TH-42PX70 Onkyo TX-SR605 Popcorn Hour A-100 (sold) Popcorn Hour C-200 with GGC-H20L Xtreamer (accumulating dust on a shelf) Always testing latest beta firmwares |

Ever tried TsRemux? I don't have the tools you mentioned.
Do you know if you have to remove the pulldown flags to get it to 24000/1001 fps or does it play properly at the bogus 30000/1001? |

Ok I have taken my King kong hd-dvd and converted it into a mkv(h264) and the audio i converted to ac3. Im trying to merge it together now but its off by a second or 2. the original file was about 15 gigs and my converted file is around 6 gigs. the quality on the film looks great though.

Are you talking about stuttering when playing via stream ie ethernet or from an external or internal hard drive attached. There shouldnt be any stuttering when using a hard drive. My tvix 4100 plays mkvs and i havent had a problem yet and that has an older chip. Ive reduced my bitrate on my hd dvd to about 5000

Ive reduced my bitrate on my hd dvd to about 5000 I am talking about making RAW stream MKV's and playing back from HDD. The same raw streams play back fine from TS/M2TS but not MKV. Just about all re-encoded x264/WVC-1 streams play on the SMP8635 with exceptions. These files can be remuxed to TS/M2TS and played properly if if need be but not that often. MKV is quite heavy to decode, so the CPU can't decode it AND decode AVC or VC-1 streams at 30-40 mbit/s at the same time. TS is no problem since it's done in HW.
