Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt

I wonder if I should mount disks twice, or some alternate method. I find that amp_test is still too buggy, and I am not sure Syabas is looking at why it slows down. I watch with mono, and it is perfect, but no menus, and the usual split VOB problem.

How do you watch with mono?

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
Hi Lundman,

I'm just a simple user, so I installed your app using the CSI. It seems to be running fine, when I enter a DVD it starts to play automatically and the eject buton works nicely. However, I don't see a single movie. Sometimes I get to see the nice FBI warning, but after that it's black. Pressing Info it tells me it's playing alright, but the menu's and movies are just a black screen. Any idea what can be the reason? Just to be on the save side I double-checked the region on the drive, but that's ok (2, just like my DVD's).
Thanks already,

John

Installed ldvd, put a retail dvd in my usb dvd-rom drive, started ok, menus, everything, but after a while its start to shutter and no audio when shuttering. If i pause the movie for a while, works fine for a short period then start again to shutter.

Yep, I know about this one, but nothing I can do. amp_test is a fairly poor program, it couldn't even play DVDs over SMB before. They made it a little bit better, but needs a little more.

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
I recently obtained an Egreat M32B and installed an internal DVD drive. Then I found this! Great idea. However, I can't seem to get it to work properly... I installed ldvd via the PCH CSI application and all went well. I noticed that when I put a commercial DVD in now, the mount looks like this (type fuse):

fuse on /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/CDROM type fuse (rw,nosuid,nodev,user_id=0,group_id=0)

But, whenever I select the DVD drive the the Sources screen, I still get the messages about the incorrecte disc region.

Am I missing something? Anyone have any hints on what may be wrong?

I'm using the latest firmware, by the way.

Thanks for the great work Lundman!

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
You need libdvdcss for retail discs, and maybe this is not part of the ldvd package (not sure, never used it myself). But it should be in the llink package. Or that's how you try to play already?

Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
I had assumed that libdvdcss would have installed with ldvd when I installed it with CSI... I have not tried it via llink, just via the normal PCH menus..

I'll start looking at that now (libdvdcss). Thanks for the reply! I'll post my findings in case others run into the same thing.

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
ldvd and llink both come with libdvdcss afaik. It is also possible that your DVD drive is region locked AND wont let dvdcss read the disk raw. But, if that failed, it would just not play. You should not get "wrong region" message from amp_test.

It is possible that the egreat mounts the DVDs on a different place, (although - then fuse would not be able to mount it).

You can set DVDCSS_VERBOSE=1 before running ldvd to see messages in the shell, if you are handy with telnetd.

And you could experiment with DVDCSS_METHOD=disc|title|key

Where key should be the default method; http://www.videolan.org/developers/libdvdcss/doc/html/

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
Thanks for the replies.... I got it working - it turned out to be that ldvd was not in the PATH. I'll have to send a note to the CSI guys to have them add the ldvd directory to the PATH in start_app.sh or something.

Anyway, it works!! Great work, Lundman! It does seem to start playing really slowly at times. I've found that if I immediately press PAUSE and then PLAY it starts playing fine again right away.

Lundman, from what I've read in this thread, it doesn't sound like there is anything you can do about this, right?

It's soooooo close to allowing my M32B to be a fully functional DVD player as well as a media player!

Thanks again, great work.
Hmmm, now that this is sort of working, I was wondering if it would be possible to rip a DVD to the PCH hard disk using "dd" or something like that? I'm assuming the decryption would happen automatically when "dd" reads the disk?

Anyone have any insight on that?

Thanks!

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
I've just installed this via CSI and using CSI it says that ldvd is running.

I have an LG GP08LU10 slim dvd writer attached and a DVD video inserted. The Disc starts to play and the HDX goes to the buffering page but then it says "BAD DISC REGION". I have tried both region 2 and region 1 discs. I'm not sure if the region is set on the drive itself though - does this matter?

Thanks for any help.
Ok, I selected a region using my PC and plugged the drive back into the hdx and it works but the picture is not playing smoothly. I think nzbget is running so maybe it needs other programs stopped for it to play back?

RE: Announcing: Fuse-2.7.2 for nmt
You can very easy "rip" the dvd, no need to use dd, unless you want an ISO. Simply cp, or rsync will copy it.

Nothing much I can do about the jerking. Perhaps if a bigger buffering system was build into dvdfs....
