Did not solve jusis707's situation.
For some reason something in his network or ISP is preventing to download the appinit, which is required for CSI. Hopefully he or his ISP comes up with an solution Sad

Goed hé? Lang verhaal... Zal ik je niet mee lastig vallen.

But it clearly does in your situation.

During install appinit will be downloaded first on the root of your NMT.
After that appinit.cgi will move itself to Apps/AppInit and install itself.

If you NMT is not able to download that file, the file will remain 0 bytes length.

Okay: i've made a small change on the server, could you check again?
1. Delete the file appinit.cgi from the nmt's hdd root
2. Restart NMT
3. Install an application

Could you postback your findings
Late reaction, trying to keep alive my pretended social live Big Grin
Just deleted the file and rebooted the HDX by switching of the device, unplugging power, wait a few minutes, plugged power back in and switched the HDX on.

Tried installing an application with CSI. The process takes longer now. In the background checking my device and I see it's downloading the application to the root of my device. And finally succeeds!

I can install application now! You're the best Ger! Will try a few more things with CSI and I am sure I will make a donation for all the good work!

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
For me the same 404 error, i have no firewall, straight connection (two ISp tried), when i tried to install CSI Gaya , i have appinit.cgi size of zero, but CSI downloaded CSIGaya.tar and installprepare.cgi files in root of /share , wierd huh. It can download. But only appinit.cgi not downloaded.
Its working:

/opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK # wget http://repository.nmtinstaller.com/appinit.cgi
--00:50:58-- http://repository.nmtinstaller.com/appinit.cgi
=> `appinit.cgi'
Resolving repository.nmtinstaller.com... 80.86.81.49
Connecting to repository.nmtinstaller.com|80.86.81.49|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 26,955 (26K) [text/plain]

100%[====================================>] 26,955 113.77K/s

00:50:59 (113.34 KB/s) - `appinit.cgi' saved [26955/26955]

I dont know how, i played with permissions, and some other linux commands which i dont understand what these commands did, its too late and my brain will blow to explain, i dont know the solution, but i did it somehow, it wasnt ISP, firewall fault.
CSI Gaya, transmission, dropbear ssh - working! Ger Teunis - bravo, for so great application!

Great, It had to be an ISP hickup or so. We tried the above a few times and you got an connection timeout. Ping was working though?!
Ahh well, you're up and running now! Happy CSI-ing!

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Would it be possible to get the USB version of MDP back into the community installer? I realize the modified version was removed due to concerns of possible non compliance with the GPL however I am under the impression that the USB version would not have this issue. For Linux newbs like myself it would be a godsend. I have tried to install it using telnet to no avail.

Best Regards,
Ed

Hi everyone,

any chance to implement a feature in the installer to change the standard backround picture for music? Same like we can change the buffer picture? This woud be so great.

regards

It should be possible, but somebody will need to update the mpd package again so it will have the old mpd daemon in it. You'll have more luck asking for it in the mpd forum I guess: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=17306

It is already possible to replace those by using a "wait image package". Those items are able to replace all kinds of pictures.
If you feel creative you can create some files so we can add it in CSI.
More information regarding this, check the wait images section from
http://www.nmtinstaller.com/?p=createpackage

Thanks Ger Teunis,
I believe this is the link. I pulled this from page 4 of the MPD thread.

From GWillem:
@jaqob: the original USB version is at http://nmt.explore.nl/mpd-nmt-20090222.tar.gz

RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
.

Version 2.5.0.0 has been released
To contributers first, focus of this release has been the translations and support for 3rd party repositories.

What is new in version 2.5.0.0
  • Translations
CSI is translated to Russian and Dutch, English is still the default.
Russian users also get a Russian translated repository.
    Sponsored by: http://www.popcorntv.ru
Please contact me if you want to help translate CSI to your language, especially German and French!
  • Shutdown option for NMT
  • Added ability to add 3rd party repositories (not supported!)
This will allow developers to test and create unsupported repositories
  • Added an application suggestion for lighttpd (only displayed once)
  • AppInit will be downloaded and installed via CSI
This will enable support for NMT without an (correctly) configured internet connection.
  • Some AppInit changes. i.e. cron bug fixed and replacing httpd server is now supported
  • Fixed some other UI and functionality glitches

Please delete the Apps/AppInit folder and install an application, that will install appinit again. Appinit is very important for the CSI and NMT's applications.
