RE: [CSI] ** UPDATED ** Community Software Installer 2.5.0 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Your download page still says apps are 2.1.5 but first page shows you've updated to 2.5.0.
Is that an oversight or simply not updated because donators get first crack at the update? Suggestion, thread title should say Aug/09 instead of UPDATED since it would make it easier for most users to spot the update as being new, and UPDATED 3 months ago if they don't follow the forum on a regular basis. |

RE: [CSI] ** UPDATED ** Community Software Installer 2.5.0 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Contributers get the first crack at it indeed to show some gratitude for their donation. After a while the release gets published to the rest of the users.
Date isn't required imho. I remove the UPDATED after a week or so and only put it back when a new version is out (thus also change the version number). Non regular visiting users are not going to remember what date they previously watched the topic either. The Updated text is only useful for regular users. Hi,
I just started using CSI and I like it a lot, this is App rocks ![]() I have two questions though which I can't seem to find an answer for in this thread. When I install an Application, it is visible in the "Installed" tab. But when I install a web service like "Dutch Uitzending gemist" then I don't see it in the Installed tab. Even when I delete the content of the Apps init folder and reinstall the webservice it doesn't show. Is this normal and if so how do I uninstall a webservice ? Regards, Stefan. |

The installed tab only displays installed applications. Because it was a common question I've added that description in the text above the tabs in CSI's "Select Item" screen. The installed tab only displays installed applications. All other items have an uninstall option in Extra -> Uninstall except for webservices. I still am planning to implement a webservices edit screen, but for the time being you are only able to add (manual) webservices and should use the "Add/Edit" button on your NMT itself to delete them. The "Add/Edit" button can be found in the "webservices" menu of the NMT. Easy way of installing software on your NMT using just your mouse: NMT Community Software Installer |

Off course how stupid of me I'm allready spoiled by this App that I forgot all about the standard options in the PCH itself ![]() Thanx for the Tip ! |

RE: [CSI] ** UPDATED ** Community Software Installer 2.5.0 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
Hey Ger,
I am having issues with the installer like the ones mentioned above, lots of install failures with 404 errors and the appinit.cgi has a file size of 0. When I use wget to download appinit.cgi directly it usually times out, but I am able to download and install applications directly from the repository using telnet and wget. Just curious, how the $@#! do you get to the "NMT web interface" as shown in the first post. Thanks for all the work you have put in to CSI. I need to send you some $$$ |

Hi designcomputer, I can't help you on the timeout part. It has to be something your provider or network is doing wrong. Perhaps you should try again later. Regarding the web interface: install "CSI Gaya", this will install the web and nmt interface of CSI. Keep us posted on the timeout and download issue using wget. RE: [CSI] Community Software Installer 2.1.5 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
HI Ger
I have the same issue appinit.cgi is 0kb in size ive gone through this post and used telnet to try and reinstall the file. when I try to download this file it times out (this occurs time and time again - I have the latest version of firmware installed on my A110). I have also cleared the cache and ensured my router does not have any firewall items that could cause a problem. Could you or anyone else please suggest a course of action to fix this??? Thanks for your help (08-25-2009 07:58 AM)Ger Teunis Wrote: Great, It had to be an ISP hickup or so. We tried the above a few times and you got an connection timeout. Ping was working though?! |

Hmm, what is going on here
![]() Did you try removing the file first and then execute the following? Code: cd /share(09-02-2009 12:22 PM)DocDownUnder Wrote: HI Ger Easy way of installing software on your NMT using just your mouse: NMT Community Software Installer |

Hi Ger,
CSI started working again here yesterday. Maybe I could help you figure out the problem If I had a fuller idea of the install process. Can you give me a quick rundown of what happens (pseudocode) after CSI downloads the zip file? |

You had a timeout during download of the cgi file if I where correct?
This is just a http download, so no real code in there that might go wrong. (09-02-2009 01:28 PM)designcomputer Wrote: CSI started working again here yesterday. RE: [CSI] ** UPDATED ** Community Software Installer 2.5.0 (Win/Linux/OSX/Web/NMT)
The current version of CSI is not downloading the appinit in the zip or during the install process. CSI is downloading the package zip file (application) and a file called installprepare.
The package contents and installprepare are uploaded to the NMT. The install prepare will prepare your NMT for the installation of applications if required. Not only for appinit applications but also 'old school' applications. Installprepare will also detect if appinit is installed. If it's not installed it will download and start appinit. Appinit will install itself. If it's already installed it will not get downloaded and installed again. After this appinit is called to install the application. When appinit is executed a lot more is going on, too much to write down here. One of the things is an update check and install or upgrade of the package you selected. More info regarding appinit is available in the first post. After this CSI will remove the temporary files which it used. I will not write the whole process down here: but there is a lot going on in CSI and appinit too much to describe here. All is working very well especially if you look at the low number of issues in comparison to the usage stats (CSI is started well over 1800 times a day, 2.3GB of applications installed per day). The new CSI version (to be released soon) will download AppInit by itself and upload that as well. This is added to support NMT's without an internet connection. But in this scenario installprepare will not download it again: because appinit is already installed. Hope this answers some question.
