RE: [CSI] Community software installer 1.5.2
Here are some of my findings after my very first trial with the C.S.I:
Happy that it looks promising (almost works, see below) on my Mac OSX 10.5.5 with mono installer found here:
Might not be as pretty or fast as on a native Win.dotnet environment, but at least I can start the portable version (haven't tried the other yet).
Some minor things:
- Isn't it "High Definition" themes, as opposed to "High Density" (when choosing Themes)?
- My Firefox3 w/AdBlock+ and Flashblock got stuck on "Loading ..." on your homepage. Using Safari was fine, though.
- Please consider adding another Donation-option; I'm very willing to donate, but I do want some value for myself (egoistic, I know ) - which is why I tend to at least have successful installation and some personal use for the app. Something like "I'll consider it later!" is more appealing, at least to me, than "No, I will not donate."
But let's get to the more serious stuff:
- I first tried to install ExtendedGaya. It seems to start to download it, after a while I get an error message saying that we "Can't connect to the Media Tank FTP server (...)"
But, yes we can:
$ ftp 192.168.1.111
Connected to 192.168.1.111.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd ----------
220-You are user number 1 of 10 allowed.
220-Local time is now 13:46. Server port: 21.
So I reviewed the Server settings and the IP was correct there. Next, I tried to install a Theme instead, McMillys AppleTV theme:
FWIW, here's some response:
Not sure if it fails to write to a temp-directory for cacheing/downloading the binaries? (DirectoryNotFoundException)
I'll try the other version too, seems I'm not far from actually getting it to work!
Perhaps I can get some decent verbose debug output too somehow, I'm not familiar with mono yet.
Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.
