(07-15-2009 10:08 PM)Meanrabbit Wrote:  As for the proxy setting, it works for web surfing (web access to http://www.nmtinstaller.com) but there is something wrong with the installer itself... I'm trying to find a solution for using a proxy only for the ip of the server (62.75.221.106)...
But this seems to be a little to complicated for me ...

If CSI integrated a proxy setting, that would be nice ....

The CSI is fine, otherwise lots more users would have posted here Smile
It's used a lot every day.

CSI just needs to be told to use a proxy server. CSI uses the Internet Explorer proxy settings so if you enter the proxy information in internet explorer CSI should start working agian.

ps> 62.75.221.106 is most likely shared with different non-related domains. Connecting using a hostname is required. So setting up the proxy server in internet explorer should be enough to connect to the CSI's repository again.

Mmmm, my last post was lost....

So i tried using a open (free to anyone) proxy in IE but nothing got to the CSI installer...

I got a tiny tunneling proxy type software called "ProxyCap" that enable me to set the proxy only for the server IP (as in "I will use the proxy setting only when trying to reach nmtinstaller.com domain").

It works fine, it can connect to my PCH, update files and so on ...

This software is a 30 days trial so next month the problem will be whole again ....

If any one knows some kind of free Proxype-like ...

I'll try again on a different computer to see if only using IE proxy setting works ...

Edit ....

Allrighty then ....
Found the correct setting in IE.

No need for any complicated software tunneling .... just correct proxy settings in IE :

(Mini How-to)
Find a free open proxy (like on http://www.free-proxy.fr, for instance) near your home.
Open Internet Explorer (IE) "Tools"/"Internet Options" settings.
Find the middle tab called "Connexions" (translating from French .. so...), and clic on the bottom box "Network Settings".

Enter the Proxy settings, then the Advanced one, and only use HTTP proxy... no FTP or any other protocol...

I hope this help the other users ....

Unbelievable, I've contacted Free with an very elaborate email and got this response.
Sorry, but this kind of response is really really bad.

I think it's not correct to post the answers of our provider here it's an off-topic.
My answer is "We inform you that there was no restriction on our end.
Therefore, please contact the administrator of the site in question for more clarification on the malfunction encountered".

LOL

I answered them to tell them to forward to a network engineer ... wait and see...

I do not agree, if I invest my personal time to help Free customers to get access to a site again and they answer me that they only seems to support in French, then I think they are doing something really wrong. My opinion.

The customer support first level is very very bad, we must insist, they will relay our messages to a higher level of skills.

I agree GER's opnion.
I see no harm in posting the response from Free.
Inspite of bieng a fan of FREE, I'am so ashamed to read their response !!!

Technically, Free has to modify or delete some of its firewall rules in the router (strasbourg-6k-1-po100.intf.routers.proxad.net) to solve this issue.

I think you NMT apps are broken, like you said you saw after updating your firmware.

First make sure you have the latest firmware.
Please use the "Extra" -> "Advanced" -> "Clean" option. This will reinstall the NMT apps.

Hallo Ger, the problem is that when i try to update the Popcorn, the firmware update is no problem, but after that the installer is updating the apps en closes with a error, thats the reason i am stil on the old firmware. In can remember on the first start i format the drive that was supplied in ext 2 (should that be ext3?). On this moment im am backupping the 600gb (zucht) and gone try to rebuild popcorn from scratch on. Maybe better luck this time.

Try the steps mentioned here: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...e_Firmware

Perhaps you can revive the NMT by hand, better then backing up 600GB perhaps Smile
