Newbie Fanart Question
First, I want to thank the developers and contributors to YAMJ and the great skins. I purchased the HDX 1000 to replace an older media streamer I have. Upon receiving the unit, I was summarily disappointed with the interface - so I hid it in the basement.

After discovering YAMJ, I promptly made it the centerpiece of my main home theater. So thanks everyone for the great work.

I have a simple but vexing question for a newbie like myself. I updated to the latest version of YAMJ (1.0.14) and RobinsjExcal skin (2.5). YAMJ found fanart for about 80% of my movies. For the movies that YAMJ didn't find any fanart, I put my own fanart in the movie folder with the same name. YAMJ uses it just fine. My problem is that my other media streamers find the fanart and puts them into my family photos.

To solve this dilemma, I wish to put all the fanart in one folder instead of in the directory of each movie. I have spent hours looking through the posts and experimenting but just get more confused as to how to do it.

My question: How do I get YAMJ to recognize the fanart when it is in another folder. Please be explicit as saying put a link in the nfo won't help me. An example would be greatly appreciated, i.e. what exactly would I put into the nfo if I put my fanart on my x drive in a folder call "movie fanart". Also, do I have to change any settings in the properties?

Thanks in advance for your help

RE: Newbie Fanart Question
Right now, YAMJ doesn't properly support moving the local fanart into another folder.
You can work around it by editing an NFO file and specifying the URL of the fanart you want to use, e.g.:
Code:
<movie>
<fanart>file:///D:/fanart/myfanart.jpg</fanart>
<fanart>Http://somesite.com/fanart/myfanart.jpg</fanart>
</movie>
Either of those will work

Is there a good or not good size that the fanart can be?

Ideal is 1280x720 but YAMJ will resize it if needed (at least the latest development version or v15 when it's released will).

RE: Newbie Fanart Question
I want to do exactly the same thing, but as a NOOB I need some help figuring it out....

I want to create a folder called Fanart in the Video folder on the NMT internal drive - what should the path in the NFO be? Would it be...

file:///opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK/Video/Fanart/picture1.jpg ??

Thanks!!

RE: Newbie Fanart Question
Figured out that this wasn't actually what i wanted to do - I wanted to just have my own posters.

BUT you'll be glad to hear I looked in the WIKI and worked out that all I needed was a jpeg of the same name as the movie in the same folder - EASY!!

Thanks

RE: Newbie Fanart Question
you can also edit the detail.xsl according to the first post in the robinsjexcal thread to change where it looks for the fanart
