Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
Hi, just got my PCH and trying to do enteresting things with it.
when i download off usenet using NZBGet i only get speeds of 1400KB/s and the rest of the machine is unuseably slow... is this normal? i'm downloading a few 720p movies at the moment, about 15GB and its taking forever. |

Try reducing number of threads until you are getting just below max throughput then either leave it (to keep web brosing responsive) or add one more thread Oversight: Jukebox | FeedTime: Automatic nzbs |

RE: Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
yes as ydrol say lower threads (connections) i use 4-6 and can max out my connection, so best scenario is as lower you can get as more performance you will get and more performance on browsing and videoplayback

RE: Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
i've got a 20MBit download rate which usually is around 2400KB/s sustained. my popcorn hour only downloads at 1400KB/s and i upped it to 30 connections. when my PCH is downloading i can still download using my laptop at around 1000kb/s. for some reason my pch is cutting out when i download and crashes after what seems like an hour of idle downloading...

RE: Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
can you lower them to 6 as example and try again, also which firmware do you use and which nzbget version? ssl active? crc checking active??

RE: Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
how much bandwidth does the usenet provider allocate per connection...
use that efficiently .... RE: Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
I have always set mine at 10 connections and when my download speeds was recently reduced to 500kb/s I found no problems with downloading slowing down my NMT.
Now im back to my usual 845kb/s it does slow down operation or rather response time. I will lower my number of connections to 4 as im sure I can get about 250kb/s per connection. Using SSL, unrar, par and scripts. RE: Wired Connection Downloading at 1400KB/s
When downloading with the usenet client on my PC i easily get 19000 KB/s. However, using Nzbget on my HDX-1000 I only get around 11000 KB/s. I am using 8 connections both on the PC and the HDX. My usenet provider is Usenethosting. Are you saying that lowering the number of connections on the HDX might increase the speed?

Are you saying that lowering the number of connections on the HDX might increase the speed?well lets call it kbps...... and you have a 20Mbps usenet service on a 19Mbit DSL connection...... 1MByte = 8Mbits Right? if you only get 11Mbps on the PCH it would stay the same with 4 connections which would make life a lot more easy for the CPU freeing up 50% of the tread load........ now if that works try 5 and maybe it will go to 13/14 Mbps give it time to find it's most efficient point. 8 connections all running on 50% is most inefficient as a lot of systems effort goes into halting the stream from the provider...
