I don't know if you've visited the WIKI recently but the whole WIKI site is under redevelopment!



Gone is the long list of points. We now have a Front Page whilst still under development looks far more professional and with further improvements can take the WIKI site up there amongst the best.

We have a total of 97 Articles on the Articles page:-



So if you long for the days of the old WIKI, simply click on the Articles link on the Front Page to get the list of All Articles on the WIKI. Click on the one you wanted and you'll find the information you want.

The Articles are now being Categorised. The actual Categories are still under discussion and something we want everyone to get involved in.

We need Articles always, from anyone and everyone. There will be help available in the form of Templates to help you format your Article and keep the WIKI consistent. There will also be a help package on How-To edit and write your Articles.

We need Editors. Editors we will be responsible for a Category or Child Category if one Category requires Child sub-Categories. Editors whilst not writing the Articles will be responsible for keeping the content of Articles in their Category up to date. Editors can also put forward Articles for inclusion on the Front Page.

Each Article should be given a Difficulty rating. Perhaps even a colour banding for different parts of an Article if its a particularly long Article or multi-ability.

The WIKI should be a cross between an encyclopaedia and a magazine. Current enough to make you want to revisit at times when you just want to find something new to try or to read an interesting article on the NMT.

We want the NMT WIKI to be one of the best WIKI's out there.

We cant do it alone and as has always been said the WIKI is ours. It is a Community document, written, revised, updated by us.

We need you!

If you can help in anyway then please do:-

-Even if its just reading the WIKI and clicking on 'Edit needed' and making a quick report if you find a broken link.

-If you feel that you want to write an Article then great. You will be given help and a Template with which to write your article making the process of getting your article onto the WIKI far easier than starting from scratch.

-If you want to get really involved and would like to join in as an 'Editor', looking after a few pages even better.

We still have a few Templates to write, Articles to merge, links to correct, etc. and nothing is set in stone so please if you have any constructive criticism or points of view speak up. We would rather hear it now than later on when the hours have been put in and we think its finished

Have a good look over the WIKI as it stands now, see which pages appeal in particular, whether you would like to take on an Editor role, and if so PM either me, dc11ab or Rioch with the page/pages you would like to help with.

By far the most valuable way to contribute is, as chris57 said, to add and moderate content. The more information available, the fewer problems people will face (or at least, the easier it will be for them to be resolved).

So, for all those who complained about the lack of an instruction manual (I was one of them), the wiki is the evolving manual for an evolving product. If you know something other don't, share it!

If you need help adding/editing articles, please get in contact with myself (rioch), chris57, dc11ab, or werner and we'll guide you along the way. If you don't need help, what are you waiting for....to the wiki, full speed!

What I'm interested in is what the neutrality of the content is going to be like. I mean, this article was rife with Popcorn Hour namedropping, so the rest of the NMT devices apparently seemed to have no place there. Are we documenting for NMT users or PCH users first?

As a PCH owner I have no qualms with either, but it would be nice to have that on the table before I start

P.S. : Any concensus on Categories yet?

First of all remember that we are starting with a lot of the WIKI pages that were written before there were any other NMT players than the PCH ones.

We are providing content that is relevant. To keep your Article as relevant as possible it should be tailored where ever possible for ALL NMT devices. If you are not then it should be obvious, for example the A110 page as above.

If you are worried then just ask for advice.

I'm glad to see you're thinking as far ahead as translations. That would be great one day, but I'm not sure we're ready for that yet. As for contributing in English, if you feel capable, then please do. If there are any problems with your writing you'll be notified promptly

Yes, the NMT wiki will cater for all brands of network media tanks. As chris57 said, many of the original content was only written about PCH, and as I myself have a PCH, most of my contributions have been for that too. The only limitation is that it is actually related to Network Media Tanks.

Great to see all the support for this. We're now at 99 articles. Who will write the magical 100th? (I'm hoping everyone will try)

This thread will be fine for the time being, when we get the Editorial Team together we have thought that they may put some thought into areas like this, is a WIKI section here an idea? Those type of things along with the Front Page, Category finalising, and 'happening' articles etc.
We just want everyone to have their say at the moment and here.

I sang the song to the user apps community. Hopefully some of them come through.

I'm really hoping we can get some of the guys to create and maintain atleast a single page dedicated to their own app.

And if we could get someone to transfer the YAMJ google wiki over here, that'd be excellent too.

Overall, extremely impressive job so far. Its amazing how much different it is!
