Does PCH A-110 display cover art for .m4v/.mp4/.mp3?
My first post. I checked out the wiki and did a search. I can't find a direct answer to my question and it's getting late so I'm just gonna come out and ask...
I have a large music video and music audio collection. I used tag & rename to tag my entire collection of .m4v(H.264) and .mp3 files with cover/album art. My collection is very well organized with a folder for each artist and album. I have no trouble getting my files to play on WMP or iTunes. Also, WMP and iTunes have no trouble displaying the artwork on all of my files. So I figure Tag & Rename did a good job of tagging these files in a somewhat universal format. I am most interested in using the PCH A-110 as a music video jukebox and was hoping that it will be able to display my collection according to folder and display the cover art (at least in the form of thumbnails). I would imagine PHC is capable of doing this out of the box, but I can't seem to find out for sure. All of the youtube videos showing the PHC gui seem to show files by text only unless PHC has been modified with YAMJ or similar application. Please let me know if PHC can display album art for .m4v and .mp3 in the form of thumbnails while browsing the files. I'd like to buy one of these units if it can do what I want. I know the WD HD TV can do this, but I think the PCH should be in a class above the WD HD TV. Thanks! |

RE: Does PCH A-110 display cover art for .m4v/.mp4/.mp3?
The NMT is a class above the WD HDTV, just check the test results on playback and you will see the NMT outperform the WD HD TV.
The WD HDTV has an advantage in that as it is a follower and from a big name brand it has 2008 Sigma libs. These allow for some improvements that the NMT's currently do not have, they will as they are going to be implemented in the next 2 or 3 firmwares. Currently you can only get album art from mp3 and then the display is basic. You can use a userapp called Music Jukebox which adds more of the feel that you want, in fact it will give more than the WDHDTV as it displays track listings etc:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=12057 You can play everything you put in a folder by pressing play rather than enter which just plays the track. You could use YAMJ or similar for your music video's by placing an NFO file with the details in the same folder and then running YAMJ to create the page. Wonder what anyone else with a music video collection/jukebox does? Moving to Jukebox section where you will get better advice. RE: Does PCH A-110 display cover art for .m4v/.mp4/.mp3?
OK... then I guess I will need to install YAMJ. It sounds kind of complex. I'll have to track down a youtube video for set-up. The one set-up/instructions I read sounded quite confusing. i.e. I can't even tell how it gets installed onto the AC-110... over a wi-fi network (which I guess requires me to purchase the USB wi-fi card), or via USB slave, or via external hard drive attached to the AC-110.
Anyway, can someone tell me... with YAMJ installed will it display artwork for both .m4v files AND .mp4 files. Also, will it display my music video collection according to folders. For example, I have about 500 folders named according to artist. Each of those folders contain a .jpg file called folder.jpg. It would be great if the folders could be displayed with a thumbnail of that folder.jpg Also, each folder contains anywhere from 1 to 20 .mp4 or .m4v files that are properly tagged with album art. If the folders can not be displayed using the folder.jpg as a thumbnail then it would be nice if the folder was displayed using the artwork from one of the .mp4 files. This would be acceptable since the folder.jpg is the same file embedded as artwork on each .mp4 in the same folder. Any advice would be great. I just got the WD HD TV yesterday I actually like it, but I have one big complaint. That is when I have it display my music video collection according to folder it just displays a bunch of generic folder icons that don't even show the name of each folder until it is highlighted. So you can only see the name of the folders one at a time. Please tell me that YAMJ will at least display a list of folder icons with the folder names (folder artwork would be even better). If so, I'll be boxing this WD HD TV up and getting a pch a-110. Thanks! |

RE: Does PCH A-110 display cover art for .m4v/.mp4/.mp3?
Hi there, I'm a noob too. I just installed YAMJ for video, and MusicJukebox for audio.
They both really make the PH110 shine! Neither of them are difficult to install, the wiki and forum searches should cover anything you need to know. My MP3 collection shows me Albums sorted alphabetically with album art. It doesn't really care about the top level folders, so if I have /albums/rush/2112 and /albums/rush/caress of steel it'll just show me the 2 albums, not the Rush folder. You do have to add some album titles to a sortoverrides.txt file to control sorting, because if you have Twisted Sister and Bruce Springsteen, they'll both end up under S so you add Twisted Sister to the .txt file. It doesn't show the album art while playing though, just the Popcorn Hour logo, and the tilte/time remaining info. Not sure if that can be changed. I'm quite happy with both interfaces. |
