RE: MediatankController for iPhone - Experimental!
I have downloaded the file and copied the controller directory by Samba to my A110 into the root directory (shows as P:\controller) and entered http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:8088/stream/file=/o.../index.php into my wifi ipod touch safari, but am getting the error message "Cannot Open Page Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server"

My A110 is hardwired to the router and has internal hard drive, I'm running myihome server on the A110, I can see it on windows explorer, I can run mpod on ipod and get successful connection to mpd thru port 6600, I can view normal webpages on ipod thru safari...any ideas why i cannot connect?

Thanks!

EDIT: Today it's working...dunno why, but problem solved. nice app, would like the arrow keys to be bigger though as this is what I use most

I connected the PCH to my PC via USB and drag & dropped the controller folder, then CHMOD the index.cgi file to 755 via FTP and everything worked fine then.

Can anyone explain to me how to set the 755 permission? I opened the files referenced via notepad and dont see anything in there regarding permissions to change. any help is appreciated. thanks

RE: MediatankController for iPhone - Experimental!
You change permissions on a file via telnet or ftp, not via notepad.

Depending upon your FTP client, there is typically something called "send RAW/custom command". Once in there, issue SITE CHMOD 775 index.cgi (or possibly just CHMOD 775 index.cgi, or chmod 775 index.cgi).

Anyone got the controller to play DVD iso files?, when I try to play one I just get the PCH logo with the "Remember backup text" and then nothing happens, the movie doesn't start.

I haven't tried, but I guess the ISO/Video_TS must available via NFS or SMB (or on local disk), not via UPnP or http. Where are your DVD files?

Everything is on the internal harddisk

RE: MediatankController for iPhone - Experimental!
Perhaps try the command directly on the NMT?
amp_test /full/path/to/some.iso --dfb:quiet -osd32 -bgnd:/bin/logo.jpg

I don't think I got that right, better have a look at / # amp_test --help and compare to how the command is executed on normal playback. Maybe there is a difference?

OK - I'm really green when it comes to Linux, but google is my friend Big Grin. Got telnet up running and was able to manually start amp_test. I get same result here, looked over the help, but that is mostly gibberish for me. Tried to start a non existent file, that gave another result (returned to telnet).

All my ISO files are reauthored DVD's with only the main movie, they all play fine directly from gaya. I'm in the process of creating a full DVD iso to see if that gives another result.

EDIT: No the full DVD iso didn't work either :-(

When I start the file a get a lot og stuff in the console, ending with the following, where it hangs (have to press stop to return tol telnet):

RE: MediatankController for iPhone - Experimental!
When I play an ISO normally, via the the standard NMT interface, and issue the ps command I get:
amp_test /iso --dfb:quiet -osd32 -bgnd:/bin/logo.jpg

Trying to play via command line fails, in best case it just shows the bg image and sits there:
# amp_test /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/NETWORK_SHARE/Video\ -nfs/test.iso --dfb:quiet -osd32 -bgnd:/bin/logo.jpg

I'm not sure what to make of all the errors and warnings in the console. Seems to be hdcp handshaking issues, time-outs etc. But then again, I could have the command parameters all wrong...

I'd guess the .iso file has to be mounted to /iso before calling amp_test.

Yes, the next version will support more remote commands, including a rewritten Controls pages which you can swipe left and right for additional controls.

Probably not. I'm planning on a rather large change in behaviour for browsing files. I am thinking about creating an index of the whole disk and sending it to the app when it launches. This should greatly increase the speed of the app. I'm also planning on combining this with the HTML5 client side storage API for storing the index locally on the iPhone.

It would also mean that jukeboxes would be able to create an index which the app could also use.

Yes, definately.

Some other changes I've already made are:
  • Natural sorting
  • Icons showing the mediatype of a file or folder
  • A proper icon for the iPhone homepage

Seems so.

A word of caution to anyone attempting to re-produce the command I did above; I got a hickup making the hue, saturation, contrast and brightness set to 0 instead of default 50%, flashed! Obviously that made the TV image unusable via hdmi. After some hours of tinkering and some friendly advice I could resolve it easily with pflash get contrast = 0 -> pflash del contrast etc.

I actually experienced the same, but there's an easier way to resolve it - just start a movie - press setup - then you can adjust your settings - all should be set to 50% as default

RE: MediatankController for iPhone - Experimental!
I was able to get my test ISO to play like this:
Code:
echo 212 > /tmp/irkey
sleep 1
killall mono
killall pod
killall gaya
killall amp_test
sleep 1
umount /iso
mkdir /iso
mount -o loop /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK/test.iso /iso
amp_test /iso --dfb:quiet -osd32 -bgnd:/bin/logo.jpg
umount /iso
rm -r /iso
gaya http://localhost:8883/start.cgi > /dev/null 2>&1

Too bad. I think it limits the interoperability of MediatankController, and I don't see the advantage of base64 encoding over url encoding. But the decision is definitely yours to make.

Well, I'm not saying I plan on keeping the base64 encoding. The new behaviour simply works in a completely different way and does not require the encoding of the path any more.

But I am open to keeping or building ways for communication between Jukeboxes and MediatankController. Could you explain a bit how your jukebox skin works together with MediatankController?
