[Subtitle] No subtitle shown - DVD
Hello,

I just bought a Popcorn A-110, installed a harddrive en updated firmware and software.

I've downloaded some TV series with single sutch subs, i can view
these subs on my PC. I am unable to show the subs on my TV, pressings the subtitle key won't work.

By the way, my subs are enabled by default, subs are custom made.

Someone knows how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

RE: [Subtitle] No subtitle shown - DVD
only .srt subs work, idx/sub files are not supported on the a-110 yet
also, you have to pick a subtitle langauge in the setup screen for subs to show up

Thanks for your reply!
This is a full (custom made) DVD, so the VOB files are in a VIDEO_TS folder. I've indeed selected the dutch subs in the setup screen.

When playing the DVD, i do get the custom made menu en can select
the correct episode to play. When it plays, so subs are present / can be choosen.

Question: I've selected the dutch subtitles in the setup menu, but maybe the popcorn does not recognize the subs are dutch (because of naming convention or other reasons).

sorry, i don't have an experience with VIDEO_TS folders, i have had .iso files with subs that played fine, i think that's more or less the same then a VIDEO_TS folder so your subs should work...
toch veel succes Smile

Do you have subtitles turn on in the PCH? Do this using the setup. In order for the subtitles in video_ts to work from the remote you must have all the subtitles selected before making the new video_ts. Example: If subs are available in English, Spanish and French all must be selected before making the new video_ts folder. If only one is selected the remote button will not work.

Hi Link,

Yes subs are turned on (via the setup).
I do understand that the "subtitle" button on the remote does not work if only one option is available.

Does the PCH recognize the language? For example, if i have a DVD with only English subs and i have selected "Nederlands" in the setup as the subtitle, will it work than?

On my PC i can use the "Nederlands" subtitle using VideoLAN player. If naming convention matters, maybe this must be called "dutch" subs instead of "Nederlands"?

I know the file that contains the subtitles must be named the same as the video. Like Matrix.avi and then sub must be matrix.srt. There is more than one sub file that is recognized by PCH. The .srt I just used is just one of them. With the news Firmware single subs are now recognized and will work from the remote button at least it appears that way!
