Best way forward with my DVD collection
I have just got my PCH and have been trawling the boards and I can see that a lot of my life is going to be taken up with this Wink

My basic question is what is the best way forward for copying/encoding my DVD's for PCH viewing?

I have a NAS box with 1TB of storage and want to put my DVD collection on it. So do I rip them and copy the VIDEO_TS folders or is it better to buy the DIVX converter and endode them? Or is there a better way altogether?

My PCH is connected to a 720P LCD TV and I have set the Video out to HDMI 720P. I guess therefore all video will be upscaled so there is no point in re-encoding the DVD's in HD.

Obviously it would be nice to get max quality but if I can save a lot of space but not sacrifice too much quality then that sounds good.

As you can tell I am a bit of a novice - thanks in advance.

You would have found the answer with a little browsing of this forum. There are many ways to rip your DVD's, and some recommendations can be found here:

I would rip the dvd's into iso files.

RE: Best way forward with my DVD collection
Thanks guys - just wanted advice really as I have been looking at the how to's but couldn't decide the best way forward.

I think I will stick with ISO images of the main movie to start with and have a shot at x264 encoding when I'm more comfortable.
