Forum availability?

Is it just me or are more people experiencing some odd behaviour of this forum?

Since some days it has become a bit slower in response and occassionally, and now more frequently, I get a:

Camino Wrote:phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Which randomly appear when posting, searching or just browsing the forum.

I also note that some threads reappear as unread when I know I've been reading the posts and there are no new posts since. This also happens randomly, which makes me think that the forum server is being heavily loaded/crowded/accessed/ddosed or something that affects it's availability.

I have gotten that error occasionally but I think it's because there have been a flood of new users lately. There seem to average of 30 or more people on here at a time when 2-3 weeks a go there where maybe a few people at a time. It's all good.

its just a trend, whenever there is a new batch of shipments sent out and new firmware release, you will see more "new" post generated everyday...

Yeah, that's for sure. That's why I'd like to address the issue to Webservices/PH team/Syabas - whoever is responsible for the uptime of the forum and wiki service. If they aren't monitoring (:shock, they ought to take a closer look upon it to make sure the site can handle peaks and increased usage. The symptoms are clearly here.

As the number of visitors increase it will get more and more important to keep this baby up, because this site is the source of information and support for customers that only receive a simplistic guide in the delivered box.

Far from everyone is a guru in network setups, TVMODE tricks for hdmi problems and you name it. If Joe Users tries to find info needed to get the box started and is met by a 404 or worse, it will certainly not build good customer relations.
