[SUBTITLE] no subtitles - again!
Hey, I'm new to the A-100 and have played around with it for a few hours.
I'm streaming/accessing data from a 2TB NAS connected to the network. Firmware is latest: 01-15-080223-14-POP-402 This came up: 1. Subtitles doesn't work at all. I've enabled them in Settings (set it to English), but all I get when I press the subtitle button is "Subtitles: OFF", which I can change to "Subtitles: ON" with the right/left arrows. (Which makes no difference whatsoever). Pressing up/down just move on to set other subtitle parameters, like lift and font. I never get to choose a language as many messages on this forum mentions. I've tried both SUB and SRT subtitles and nothing works. It all works perfectly on my PC obviously. 2. When starting a slideshow, there's an huuuuge delay between pictures. This is how it goes: 6 seconds picture, 4 seconds black, 1 second fadein to next picture. Surely this cannot be how it should work! I would expect it to fade from one picture to the next. BTW. (At least) one of my pictures causes some kind of "nunsupported JPG error". This pic is the same type as all others (from my camera) and all works ok on my PC. This may be a bug. Hope you can help me sort out this, especially the subtitle problem. Tanks in advance. |

If the pic is MJpeg then its an unsupoorted codec and wont play.

It's a standard JPEG. The other pictures are working fine. All work on the PC.
I'll check if there's more than one that fails, but the picture browsing is painfully slow. |

Sorry I was on about myihome but you probably not using that reading your initial post youre streaming from a NAS. What are you using to serve to the PCH.
Also what is the make of the camera? If its Canon/Panasonic they are mjpeg. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

Camera is a Canon, so that may cause the problem. However, it seemed that most other pictures (from the same camera) did work !??!?!
The NAS is a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+, basically a 2TB raid array. I've used that before so serve local PC's and a HTPC with MediaPortal. |

What protocol are you using to stream? Or what server app?

Juanra: No, I haven't rotated the picture or done anything. I just connected to my photo share and got the problem.
chris57: I'm not really streaming as such. The NAS is set up as a UPnP AV thingy, but I'm just accessing the AVI data files on the NAS hard disks. |

Just tested subtitles with a movie on the PCH's local harddisk. Same problem as when playing from the NAS.
No subtitles whatsoever. Tried rebooting, rewinding e.t.c. - nothing. This is a most basic requirement and it just need to work, otherwise I'll have to return the box. Edit: problem with sub on local disk was an oops. See next post for solution to initial subtitle problem. |

The problem with the subtitles was due to using my NAS in UPnP mode. I turned that off and set it as an SMB share instead.
Not only was it faster, but subtitles now work. None of the subtitle parameter settings, color, font etc work, however. Not even turning them off. |
