Edit configs in /etc/
As far as I know we haven't any possibilities to edit any configuration files in /etc/ (using telnet), because after reboot we lose all changes of this files.
Device: popcorn a-110

Is any way to edit it?

Can we make image of internal flash(/dev/mtd), mount it as jffs2 filesystem, make changes, and restore after? Is it possible?

Sorry. I have searched the forum, but I haven't found any useful information on this topic

RE: Edit configs in /etc/
You've probably already figured out that one workaround is to replaced the modified files on every reboot, and then if the app has already started, either restart it, or get it to reread its config file - sending a SIGHUP to smbd for example.

Format your hard drive and install NMT apps in 10 minutes or less!

PCH-A100 + 500GB Maxtor PATA
ioBox 100HD + 1.5TB Seagate SATA
openSUSE 11.1 server with 14 hard drives

RE: Edit configs in /etc/
I would like change init scripts, for example uncomment string containing "/bin/busybox telnetd", for autostarting telnet.

PS I know, that daemons can start automatically, if they are installed on the external hard drive(connected via sata), the other question is if I can do this with external usb flash drive(for example, with same structure of files such on hdd)? I think it will also solve my problem(the task is to start some additional daemons automatically without using external hdd)
