I think, evidently, they are that afraid. And I don't entirely blame them. It's a very competitive market.

I have to admit, I have been looking at the xstreamer, in case the new popcorn hour doesn't materialize

Saying they are afraid or talking about going for another device, I don't think it will make them hurry up.... I'm sure they want to release it ASAP.... if they didn't yet, they must have a reason...

You're not the only one. Tonight Xtreamer put a notice on their website up that they have only 300 more units in the first shipment that goes out July 1, 2009. So if you're serious about getting one before the end of the summer, here's your big chance. I put in my order. Looking forward to getting it and trying it out.

Tell us how it works out. Only reason im worried about that one is. Usually someone will send someone a demo or it will be at something like CES. But the Xtreamer just popped up over night it seems like.

RE: Oh Werner, Oh Werner, where are you?
xtreamer doesn't do blu-ray from folders so it is useless to me.
Saying that if you don't want that, at that price or two to three times that price, I don't see anything better out there.
The different hdi devices offering blu-ray from folders are best but cost many times that.
Not alot of posts in the xtreamer forums as noone has one or ever had an xtreamer product before so they are bound to be skeptical.

Oh, I certainly don't view the Xtreamer as competition for the next-gen PCH. That wasn't what I was talking about.

I was talking about other media streamer manufacturers waiting for hear the next move from Syabas, before committing to next-gen specs of their own.

RE: Oh Werner, Oh Werner, where are you?
I think the biggest competition would come from the bigger brands that will jump on the Yuixx bandwagon.
And if then the bigger brands involve the community then It is going to be really hard for the little companies.
Big brands have large production capacity and will push their brands all over the place like webshops, regular elektronica shops and computer shops. Then they have a big reserve in $$$ for marketing...

The small companies will be pushed to the background and will eventually dissapear from the market.

Big companies wont get involved. They will have the same draw backs like the xbox360. They wont want to support 3rd party codecs. So they could strike a deal with divx. And they will say ok we will give you a license but dont offer xvid playback. Small companies dont have the same problem as they arent a big customer. Also with the moxi and tivo pushing streaming features to home dvdr and set top box's no big player will step in.

or be brought up for a trillion $ like cisco bought pure digital, but the big CE just dont get the digital medie formats yet, they still announce products that play only divx as it was the hottest format on the block. they will get it eventually, but still it is an wait an see.
