Will A-110 Play 1080P Wireless? (EVA8000 Owner)
I cannot play Blu-ray rips on the EVA8000. Some lower res MKV transcodes yes.

Will the A-110 play HD content via 802.11n? I don't want to go the EVA9150 route. Too costly and I'm soured on Netgear based on the shaky performance of the 8000 (freezes up, etc.).

If not the A-110 then what product can do this? The C-200 I'm sure but out of my price range. Thanks.

i play files with my A-110 over the N network in my home. MKV and MTS files.

Popcorn Hour A-110 + C-300, Yamaha RX-V661, LG 42LM620S, ELAC Dipol 5.1 set

The inability to build an proper NMT should not be disguised as a fault in the setup.

I'm pretty sure (meaning there's a possibility it was 720p) I streamed 1080P over my 802.11g network and it was fine, just don't bother trying to fastforward or rewind!

i had lots of trouble with the 1080p files some 720 will play ok for me, but i decided to get 75foot cat5 cable and now everything works great.
i dont think the wireless technology is good enough to stream 1080p right now but wait a couple years and you wont need a wired network any more.

as it says everywhere on this forum and everywhere on the internet really, wireless is unreliable and does not maintain a constant data stream.

if you want flawless playback all the time, you'll have to go wireless.

No, wirelessN doesn't even cut it. better, but not good enough in my opinion.

Typo? I think you mean wired?

Too bad about wireless. Even wired my EVA8000 can't play commercial Blu-ray level files. I take it then, wired, the A-110 should give me no problems?

I can only reply for myself but I can stream 2 or more 1080p movies on a Gb network. A 100 Mb should do at least one.

Is not the A-110 spec'd at 10/100. Would not the A-110 be the bottleneck on a 1G network?

Depends on how your doing this.

My raid serves the files and it has a Gb network connection and so it can serve at least two A-110s with 1080p.

If your using the A-110 as the file server then it's 100 Mb nic would be a bottleneck.

Blu-rays are what, 50+ Mb/s peak.

Gb network allows more simultaneous devices. End-to-end is limited with the least-capable device (in this case, the PCH with 10/100.) But, you can have multiple PCHs on a Gb network, where 100Mb would begin to show signs of stress.

Wireless just isn't an option for high-bandwidth realtime media. It's not just advertised bandwidth, as even 802.11g is rated at 54Mb, which is enough. The unfortunate fact is there is more overhead, the available bandwidth varies based on signal strength, and there is more latency. Latency will kill, even if there is enough bandwidth. Finally, it's just not reliable.

Compare it to cellular phones in the 90s. Yeah, you could have an intense conversation, but you'd probably have much better success on a land-line. Sometimes it'll work. Sometimes, you're on AT&T's Every-Other-Word plan.

I guess my thinking is on the incoming side of it. If your raid servers can stream 2 1080P files, the A-110 is limited by the 10/100 on the input side or a smaller pipeline then your network.

You can only play one movie at a time on a single A-110 so a 100 Mb/s connection on a Gb/s network is fine to play a ~50 Mb/s 1080p movie.

I'm not sure I can explain it any better then that. Trust me, it works fine. Much better then a wireless setup.
