Looks like Sybas is not taking a page out of Palm/Apple/Nintendo's
playbook.... Keep the initial availability high enough to get a
decent volume, but low enough to sell out and create some
extra buzz. Nintendo managed to do that for 2+yrs and frenzy
allowed them not to drop the price.

RE: The 'ORDER ACCEPTED' Thread
Well hope the wait isn't too long.

Consider me a "loyal" customer who has purchased 2 NMT's and recommended them to literally hundreds of people.

Also consider me not too happy to wait up until 1:30 AM because of the way this was handled. Had to submit the order at 7:30 AM after getting up and going to work.. hope I don't have to wait too long for it.

And Google Checkout sucks. I just noticed they had my old as hell address listed for my CC: you think they'd do an address check before accepting your order.. hope it doesn't cause me any problems if/when Popcorn hour actually processes the order.

I'm glad that worked out for Nintendo, but it's also the reason that I don't own a wii. By the time I could walk into a store and buy one, I no longer had the need or interest. Kids do grow up......

RE: The 'ORDER ACCEPTED' Thread
Is the order accepted the email from Google? If so, then count me in (as of 6 hours ago).

RE: The 'ORDER ACCEPTED' Thread
Well, I ordered it as of 9am CST (central). I assumed I would be 2nd batch, but PCH said in the preorder email that credit cards would not be charged until the unit ships/processes. I just checked my chase visa page, and doesn't show the charge (usually takes a day or two for it to appear), but it shows the ammount deducted off of my available credit). I have a $10,000 credit line on my credit card, and I have $0 on my card...so I obviously notice the available credit as being $340 lower. So hopefully this means I got 1st batch, and it seems like they may have had a bigger number of units than some of us expected!

Not to rain on your parade, but I don't think that means anything. In the email from popcornhour announcing the availability, it said that Google would do an auth on your credit card, to determine the validity. This is why you are seeing your available credit go down. This is not the same as a charge. The charge will come from popcornhour, when they are ready to ship your unit.

For the sake of everyone here, including myself, I'm hoping that batch 1 was large enough that they still haven't sold out, but who knows.

RE: The 'ORDER ACCEPTED' Thread
I can't help but think that it's fairly stupid (and sadly, typical of americans) to send out an international email with a specific time and only specify it using obscure AM/PM notation Huh

To make matters worse (one blunder rarely comes alone), the specific time of 12:00 AM is one of only two times that are certainly the worst to pick, given that people who don't use AM/PM rarely have a clue whether this is noon or midnight Angry

So a big fat booo for making me miss the grand opening by 12 hours. Hopefully I'll see it before xmas Rolleyes

The time did stink, especially since the server went down and it was another four to five hours, before we could order. I would much rather of had them choose a time in the morning (PST) and let the people on the other side of the planet stay up all night hitting refresh. Wink

Perhaps you should have searched the board in those 12 hrs....Tongue
There was a thread well before the opening where Werner even posted a url to a countdown page...

But i was there at 09:00 and couldn't get in on time. Fortunately i was lucky enough to order one when the servers where moved.

Obviously, the fault is mine.. but whoever authored the original email didn't exactly make it easy to get it right.

Dude, it won't be anything like that long...

... has it even been confirmed that the first batch is sold out? You might even get it in a week or two.

Optimists Rolleyes .. I'm just setting myself up so as not to be dissapointed now that I know I'm quite a way down the list. Besides, just waited 3 months for my WD 2TB babies to arrive and they sent out first batches back in may, so you never know how long it's going to take. But when the C200 does, my RAID will be waiting Big Grin
