Poll: DMJ and lighttpd?
For added functionality (like image scaling) I am going to be using lighttpd from the CSI. It seems lighttpd is much faster then the standard PCH interface. Please let me know yes or no if you would like DMJ to move to entirely using the lighttpd as its server. This would mean DMJ will not run without lighttpd installed. If the answer is yes, you will start seeing migration over the next few releases.
cmgrant As recommended form the feedback below Lighttpd gives the ability Image manipulation ability - Thumbnail generation specifically, other abilities to follow Removal of CGI scripts - Seamless access from both PC and PCH all functions would be available Full PHP 5 support - More options for themes and functionality Increased speed - Although I have not personal tested this out reports are that using it is significantly faster More as i think of it cmgrant "Your jambox is now his jambox by way of our actions." cmgrant -[-at-]- gmail -[-dot-]- com |

RE: Poll: DMJ and lighttpd?
I am not a DMJ user (well, a potential one
) but I would highly recommend using the lighttpd; apart from getting a speedier interface for navigation among media files, there are nice opportunities for new jukebox features (managing images etc.)I think it would be a good idea if you outlined some ideas and gave some examples of what could be done, cmgrant. RE: Poll: DMJ and lighttpd?
I think its probably a good idea aswell...
But i agree with dc11ab in that if you layed out a brief list of some advantages or future plans that can only be done (or done better) with lighttpd i think you'll get a better response from the masses. RE: Poll: DMJ and lighttpd?
Well DMJ (and Oversight) are the jukeboxes I'm keeping my eye on, so any benefit for their development gets my vote.
The possibilities for easier skinning, might help to enlarge the DMJ "community" as well, so bugs could be noticed earlier. Though, I don't think cmgrant would be happy with that (extra work ).
