setting the drive as slave didn't work for me- same crashing problem

Bump. Wondering if anybody has any solutions to this. Whenever I download a torrent of any size all of the services crash -- sometimes after 5 minutes sometimes after an hour.

I have same problem.
Also my PCH not responding and I have to reboot it.
Mainly when are several torrents active (between 7 and 15) (2 or 3 download, and the others serving)
(With bios version 01-17-080612-15-POP-402)

I replaced the HDD in my Popcorn ($40/300gig Maxtor @ Staples, I couldn't resist), and torrent d/l is working like a charm now with no crashes. I knew the drive I had in there previously had some bad sectors which is why I backed it up and took it out of my PC in the first place, but when I got the PCH I figured "what the heck, it's only video" and brought it back to life. Now the old drive is in the trash heap, and my PCH is d/ling torrents like a champ.

If you're exeriencing problems I suggest checking your drive for errors at the least, or even finding a different drive.

So has anyone fixed their problem cause i am have the same problem. Crashes when ever im downloading a bigger torrent! Or sometimes on some regular 4.5gb torrent. Its really annoying and soon the people in this world will see the first flying popcorn hour!


I have a western digital 500gb thats brand new and i've tried putting it to slave mode but didnt happend!

People have been known to experience various problems with 500 GB Western Digital drives before, as I recall the problems were explained as being due to them causing power ripples.

i think i might have found the problem as I was also facing the same issue, the problem with integrated things is do not give it to much to process, so i just disabled my screen saver and till now it has been working fine otherwise it use to hang up, will report in next 3-4 hours with the test result. If any one else can please test this

I have the same problem with a seagate 120gig drive. how do you turn off the screensaver? i also have the problem where the pch will not wake up from stand by mode. i dont know if it's related. thanks
