Ah - separate share - OK. So, no way to get the skin to "ignore" the Menu folder (like MJB does)?

Ignore my post above - there is a way to do this: Instead of making the menu a sub-folder of the photos (which causes the skin to scan the Menu folder itself for photos), I made the photos folder a submenu of the "root" of the share:

Photos: \\pch\photos\photos
Menu: \\pch\photos

Works fine! All I have to remember is not to delete the \\pch\photos\photos folder when clearing out the menu.

It all works except that when I press "Enter" on a photo, it tries to play it as an MP3 again. If I press Play instead, it works fine.

Any idea what causes it to play photos as MP3 files? I've looked for unusual characters and there aren't any. But, clearly I have done something to cause it to play photos as MP3 files because it didn't used to do that - I just can't work out what!

sorry, but i read this series of post and i don't understand what is wrong and right in your mind with folder structure

- if you create you menu under the photos folder , then at the second pass, this folder will be scanned as a all the other subfolder , except if you specify in the MJB tag to skip this folder.

- if you create a menu folder at the same level than the photos folder, the problem will not exists

- for photos which load MP3, as i told you, generaly mp3 loader is quicker to start than photo screenvier on the PCH , so if photo and MP3 are parametered to play together you could think that the photo start mp3 loader

carefull: if you did changed the structure of folder inside of MJB , select delete Html first , be get rid of problem.

Actually, I have solved the folder structure problem, so I am OK on that.

I have a collection of JPG files that, when I click them, they do not show as a photo. Instead the MP3 player loads and shows the photo as an album cover. I do not know why the MP3 player is loading? Do you have any idea what it is that would cause this to happen?

It is doing it for all photos, but 2 days ago, it was working fine. So, I must have changed something, but when I put everything back to how it was, the problem is still there, so I must be doing something wrong. Anyway, is this what you needed?

ok perhaps i have 2 ways to explore which could fit with your problem
1 - could you make clear cache of your PCH and reboot then retry to see if the problem still append

if not OK

2 -
when you generate thumb the first time you did it with the primary folder structure which contain 'family snaps#1' inside the path , when you change the path did you substitute the folder with # by 'max' ?
could you post the line at the beginning of the html which contain the playFrom function

for me it seems that for some reason the path now in use "file:///opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/NETWORK_SHARE/Pictures/2010/january/max/IMG_7410 23-01-2010 15-42-52.jpg" doesn't point to a real existing file, in contrary of the path with slides_auto.jsp which seems to point an existing file

When I had the problem originally, it only happened when I pressed "Play". But pressing "Enter" was OK.

Now it is the opposite: so pressing "Play" is fine, but pressing Enter causes the MP3 player to load. Weird!

I have changed the file names and am using a different album to test (because it is smaller, so I can generate the Menu much faster!). Also, I have gone back to using a network share instead of an internal drive. However, the problem happens with both. I cleared the cache but this did not help.

with your test album, what is the 4 path used inside MJB and could describe what the real structure where point the network_share

look like that the NETWORK_SHARE/Pictures/Menu exists, and that NETWORK_SHARE/Pictures/2010/january/max doesn't point to something real

The folder structure is like this:
p:

So, I have checked them and it looks to me like all the paths exist.

The P:\Users\Public\Pictures is shared as "Pictures".

Unfortunately, every page that I try this for has this problem.

Here's what happens with the 3 buttons on the web page:
The Play button: All pictures play as normal
The Play All seul button: All pitures play as normal
The shuffle button: It flashes black and immediately returns back to the web page
If I press play on the remote after highlighting the first picture: All pitures play as normal
If I press Enter on the remote after highlighting the first picture: The MP3 player starts. (Actually, sometimes the PCH reboots but it only does that occassionally.)

Re text in French: it's no problem, I can read French (and speak it very badly) and am trying to improve my French, so I may keep the menus in French - it does me good. Ah, swimming in La Charante - marvellous.

I must say that I do apprciate your effort in helping me to resolve this because it's not a big problem - I could just press Play instead of Enter. It's just a very curious problem.

perhaps some small difference could make this problem according with the firmware developpement beetween PCH?

LOL - no problem. Yes I will try that. But first, I have to re-set the PCH up again because I decided to set the PCH back to factory default. (I was trying random things!) So, will be a while before I test this.

Oh, by the way it's a C200 with the latest firmware.

OK - I tried that. It certainly made a difference... No, instead of loading the MP3 player, there is a long wait (with the small circle top left) and them it looks like it loads the JPG as a text file - white screen black strange characters.
