Go to settings , shares, and add a new share ( you need to have some shares on your computer).
Fill in a name and for the url you must write:
smb://(computername)/(share-name).
Fill in the name of a user with acces to the share and the password and save it.
In my case it worked, now i can acces my shares again on my computer.

Okee , I ll give this a try then ! ... I ll get back on it

RE: Sharing folders in Windows 7 for streaming ?
yeah so having a share to access, and then authing to the server sharing with an account that has access to said share.. Yeah that's kind of how it works Wink

Does anything else make sense?? how would you access something if not shared -- and no shit you should not have permissions if your not authenticating with an account that has permissions, etc.

Request cannot be processed: Sharing folders in Windows 7 Home Premium
I have: PCH A-110 [ internal HDD]
Network is: DI-624, Dell PowerConnect 2708
Windows7-64Bit Home Premium (oem)

I've tried but not been able to access my Mapped Drive(s) located in c:Media.

Tell us how you have shared your folders?
Followed this guide to mapped my drives in WinXP Pro for the last year with great success.
Tell us what your network settings are on your W7 PC?
Followed this guide to set up my SMB share with the exception of not being able to RUN secpol.msc

Though I did find a registry edit (REGEDIT) in the forums that supposedly does the same thing as secpol.msc. I will try and find it again for you to see

Quote:MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
On the right side find ‘everyoneincludesanonymous’; change the value to 1

What permissions those folders have? READ permissions to Everyone and Guest
Have you enabled a Guest Account? YES
Disabled password protected sharing?YES

What happens when you go to Network Share in Setup and select Browse? I can add a Network Share named Media browsing to C: drive just cannot access the contents of the folders inside Media.

Have you tried turning off your firewall?YES

Have tried Media Streaming ON/OFF with the the same result except when ON that I get my PC (STREAMER) to show up in the Source Menu of the PCH. Then I am able to drill down to find my files but only in this matter. All other methods produce the message "Request cannot be processed"

I use NMTServer to play my movies as a stand alone HTTP server or with LLINK. It goes to the buffering screen then back to the folder or movie listing.

Man this is really frustrating. If I am unable to resolve this issue I'll just install my WIndows XP hard drive back and just forget Windows 7confused

Thank you for any suggestions or condolences you can offer.

RE: Sharing folders in Windows 7 for streaming ?
Left the unit alone overnight and everything is working properly. I have no idea what worked. I guess the settings don't take effect immediately?????
