NMT and External hd-dvd drive
Hi there
anyone knows how to use an xbox360 external usb Hd-dvd drive with any NMT to read hd-dvd movies? Since,as far i know, there is no copy protection on Hd-dvd (well wich wasn't cracked),and i tried to read any movie but the format itself isn't recognized (can only browse files) Someone has done an nmt app to read it like css for dvd? Thanks you |

RE: NMT and External hd-dvd drive
Nobody has done an NMT app. Just because AACS has been cracked doesn't mean it doesn't exist any more, you still need a specific program to decrypt each HD DVD. I think there are Linux tools to decrypt HD DVD, but the NMT doesn't have a full Linux distribution so I imagine it would be quite hard to do. Then you would have to send the demuxed audio/video to the Sigma chip for decoding and I imagine the hooks may not be publicly available? So it would likely be something Syabas would have to do, which they won't because not enough people still use HD DVD...

RE: NMT and External hd-dvd drive
There's no support for HD-DVD in the Sigma chipset IIRC. Therefore you would have to remux into a container that is accepted which defects the purpose and would be far quicker on a powerful PC.
