PCH A-100/110 - Alternative AC Adapter
Would a 12VDC/2A Adapter instead of the official 12VDC/3A adapter be sufficient for the A-100/110?

RE: PCH A-100/110 - Alternative AC Adapter
Probably if you don't overload it. It's the hard drives that draw the most current. A 2.5" internal drive would be fine but a 7200RPM 3.5" might be too much. It's better to go with a higher current adapter than a lower current one.

RE: PCH A-100/110 - Alternative AC Adapter
My Kill-a-Watt shows my A-100's power consumption as follows (with no hard drive installed):

- Boot-up: 6W
- Standby: 5W
- Video playback over network (640x480 XviD): 7W
- Video playback over network (1280x720 x264, MKV): 8W
- Video playback over network (1920x1080 x264, MKV): 10W

So, as long as you don't have anything else drawing power from your PCH (eg. internal hard drive or USB-powered external drive), a 2A adapter should be fine. If you do have something else hooked up, as long as its power load is less than 14W, you should be fine (although I would probably keep it under 10W, just to be safe).

RE: PCH A-100/110 - Alternative AC Adapter
Hi,
Does anyone knows the dimensions of the power tip of the A/C adapter for PCH A-110/100? I am looking for a replacement adapter but some of the spare adapters I have (12V) do not seems to fit the PCH unit.

So I was wondering if anyone has confirmed size of internal & external diameters of the power tip of A/C adapter?
Thanks.

Have a look at this, works great with the A110:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15995

The 5A is more than enough (more than the original PSU has). Plug size is listed as well and center is positive indeed.

They should have a US plug version on their site as well and they offer free shipping .

Thanks for everyone's helpful replies.

I have got an adapter for my A-110 off the ebay and I can confirm that its power tip has following size:

Outer diameter --> 5.5mm

Inner diameter --> 2.5mm
