Manual start torrent
Is there a way to start the torrent service manual using telnet? Where can I find the shell script to start this service?

RE: Manual start torrent
Uh, the HDX-1000. But if you can tell me for A-110 or C200, then maybe that helps?
Thx

RE: Manual start torrent
Have no experience with HDX at all...
The simplest way that comes to mind is via the CSI.
When you install transmission from there, un-ticket "start on boot"
and when you need to start it, just do restart Smile

Sounds good?

Undecided No, does not sounds good Wink

I want to access my HDX from other places (then home) using ssh and/or telnet. The CSI software is only on my home pc and for example not my work PC. So when I connect to my HDX with telnet I want to start then the torrent service. I don't want this service to run all the time (I want to have control Big Grin)

RE: Manual start torrent
Hehehe fair enough Angle,

From the top of my head:

take an ssh to your HDX
cd /share/Apps/transmission/bin
./transmission-daemon &

and that should do the trick for you.

If you wanna stop from the same directory
killall transmission-daemon

Wink give it a run and see

Cheers,
Espresso

RE: Manual start torrent
Hi,

Hmmm... I don't have transmission installed. I use the default torrent client from the nmt. Only apps from CSI are in this dir (/share/Apps). So I can't find this script. Another hint? confused

RE: Manual start torrent
Yes you're correct!
Honestly, not sure where the default transmission would be....
Can you go to /
and
find * -name "*trans*" -print
and see if you get any indicators there.
I'm not next to a nmt so I can't really check

RE: Manual start torrent
So, I found where the default Transmission is installed:

/mnt/syb8634/bin/transmission-daemon

I tried to start this process as you mentioned:

$PWD/transmission-daemon &

It shows me 3 processes in 'top', but it did not work.
I killed the processes and I started the service in the normal way (via TV, remote control). Then it showed me 3 processes like:

/mnt/syb8634/bin/transmission-daemon -s /share/.transmission/daemon/socket -g /share/.transmission/

Looking in 'transmission-remote' I found out what the -s (start torrent) and -g (config dir) represents.

But, again, using this complete command didn't work either. Then I searched for the files calling transmission-deamon with these parameters. And that is done in script:
/mnt/syb8634/server/clutch

The rest was easy: to start the Torrent Service:
/mnt/syb8634/server/clutch start

and to stop:
/mnt/syb8634/server/clutch stop

The strange thing is that the frontend of the NMT on my TV shows as status 'Stopping' for the Torrent NMT app (in Setup), after I started it with 'clutch start'. But nevertheless, this works.

Hope this is helpfull for others Smile
