File operations and Telnet
Hi all - im a bit of a NMT noobie, so please....be gentle. Wink

I have searched the forums for these specifics, and cant seem to find a lot, so i thought id ask.

Is there any way to perform the "File Copy/Move" operations from a telnet command?

Now i know that as its a basic linux distro the "cp" and "mv" commands are available, and i have tried them, and altho they work, they work at a pace that takes ice ages to move data from from the internal HDD to my external USB Hdd. BUT I have used the PCH remote and the File Operations to perform the same, and the results are impressive! so i was wanting to perform the same remotely, via Telnet if possible

My Next question is one of Startup.
I want to edit the startup so that the Torrent Client, Usenet client and a couple of others are stopped by default. I have tried stopping them in the UI, but they will restart themselves on a reboot of the PCH. Im sure its a setting in a script somewhere, if someone would be so kind as to point me to its location please? Blush

Specs are below, any further info needed, id be happy to provide!

PCH A110. Intenal EXT3 SATA 250GB WD. External 1TB USB Seagate EXT3. Wired LAN.

Many Thanks!

RE: File operations and Telnet
Hmmmm??? I don't keep data on my NMTs, nor do I use USB drives connected to them. I've always assumed the remote file operations used cp and/or mv to do their thing.

For kicks, why don't you telnet to the box;
1) run "ps" to tell you what processes are running
2) start a file operation with the remote. Something that will take 5 mins or more.
3) Do another "ps" and compare it to the results, you received in #1

That should tell you what they are using to move around files.

C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server.

Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running;
Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive.

Already done mate, and the only process that seems to fire up is "gaya" using between 40-60% CPU - which is the gui? after copy completes, i do see an "rm -rf" command fire up to remove said copied file, but never a "cp" command Sad

Strange, if I stop the NMT services (Torrent, Usenet) in the UI and wait until they are really stopped (button -> 'start') the services are stopped after a reset too. No script editting has to be done, strange Huh

Try to stop all services and reboot the PCH again, maybe that helps Undecided
