Best way to connect a NAS to A-110
NEWBIE HERE!

I need more storage. I am thinking to buy a NAS and connect it to my A-110. Is USB connection the best way?

What about the ethernet connection?

My Popcorn hour is some distance from my PC so I always FTP files via Wifi to my A-110.

My hope is to add a USB Wifi Dongle to the NAS box and then FTP directly to the NAS via Wifi.

I have read that it is possible to do this via the A-110 but it is to complex for me to figure out... This is why I want a NAS with a Wifi connection of it's own.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Complete Newbie here... How do I connect up a regular NAS, My A-110 and a wireless router? I understand that I connect the NAS to the wireless router but my wireless router is miles from my A-110. I do not have a hard wire connection between my A-110 and my wireless router. I really do not want to stream from the NAS to my A-110, that gives me problems with HD material.

Thanks!

You could try a Homeplug av which has a maximum thruput of 200Mb but more like 20Mb in reality, have a look here.

devolo

I personally tried homeplug av and the 1080 hd signals would break up but 720p was ok, but it depends on you home's electrical wiring as homeplug uses the neutral wires in the mains to transmit the video signals, wireless is never gonna be good enough for HD even the 802.11n.

I eventually trailed a cat5e cable from upstairs where my nas is thru a hole in the wall than stappled to the wall outside, going thru another hole where my satelite feed comes from into the pch, now get full HD.

Hard-wired is the only way to go unfortunitly.

Hard wired is the only guaranteed method.

Otherwise a WiFi bridge setup or power plugs. USB dongles are a very poor way with only SD xvid streaming possible.

Do you need to share what is on the NAS to anywhere else apart from the A110. If not then consider a 4 bay DAS unit, they are cheaper and you could connect via USB to the A110.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

No I do not need the NAS anywhere else other than the A-110. Yes I would love to get a a 4 Bay DAS unit and connect it to my A-110 via USB. The next problem though is I would like to FTP my files to the DAS unit. The only way I have been able to see to do this is via the A-110.

I started a couple threads about this topic and it seems beyond my skills to get my A-110 set up so that I can FTP files via Wifi to a DAS unit connected to one of the A-110 USB ports. It involves telnet commands and stuff I know nothing about....
