I have a HDX1000 with 1TB internal HDD which is connected to my ADSL modem and my windows VISTA PC is connected to the same ADSL. All NMT applications running on HDX and internet functions work correctly. By the way I am pretty illiterate when it comes to networks, computers etc. I didnt install any servers or anything because the computer and HDX see eachother very well.
So I use the step by step guide on the WIKI and IMO do everything right until I start the GUI version "Current Version 1.84-TheMovieDB4fix". I mean I get a drive letter for my HDX as Y, open an empty UMC directory on the HDX and also download everything on the PC under C:\UMC.. etc. But... A- I start the GUI and click options - settings because the wizard only works for network connections. (right?) B- On the "General" tab: 1- I leave everything as is except "Name" and "Description". 2- In the several tries I did I ticked PDF and HTML reports and also tried to install without these options. But the outcome didnt change C- "Mediacenter" Tab: 1- "General" Tab: Create in Y:\UMC. I leave the rest as is and have tried auto-mount ticked and not ticked. (I dont know what auto-mount is btw) 2- "SKIN": I download the SD skin, unzipped to the skin under C:\UMC..etc. and choose it instead of default. 3- I leave "RSS" and "VDR" alone because I don't know what they are D- I leave "Filetypes" and "Blacklist" as is. E- "Libs": On the internal HDD on my HDX all my moives and TV shows are under Y:\UMC\Video. Under Video I have Movies-Music (for concert videos) and Tv. Under Movies I have HD and SD directories and under each of these I have Documentaries and Movies directories. So it looks like this Y:\Video *Movies **HD ***Documentaries ***Movies **SD ***Documentaries ***Movies *Music *Tv First time I tried adding libraries for every sub directory and then I tried Just adding library for the main directory "Video" hoping UMC will sort them all out but the outcome didn't change. I gave names and descriptions and showed the scan directory and everything correct. Scan type all but I also tried "movie". PCH drive I chose the correct directories since I did get pictures in the UMC directories of my movies.... ...Then I save the "project" and then scan. First time I scanned the GUI just froze even though there was action on the internet so I left it. Second time the GUI didn't freeze but the out come didn't change OUTCOME/S: 1- GUI freezes but internet action is there and I leave it. In the morning all has stopped-finished and the status bar shows 100%. I check the UMC directory on the HDX to start the index.htm but there is no index.htm. Only some directories with pictures-files in them. 2- GUI doesnt freeze but the process gets stuck at "BackgroundWorker" In all my tries I wasnt able to get the index.htm file in my HDX. Which brings me to my questions: 1-What am I doing wrong? 2-Should I create all these files that are supposed to be on the HDX on my PC and then copy all files (hopefully including the index.htm) under Y:\UMC ? |

RE: CANT INSTALL UMC
I'm not a user of UMC anymore. Waiting for the next release (2.0).
What about checking the contents of *.xml file *.xml under "settings" folder?. Possibly you can see something going wrong - maybe a missing slash - inside the tags Mediacenter or Libraries |
