music playing problem

I have a logitech Z-5500 set to my pch via optical cable.

Now suddenly all my music playing via pch is corrupted in some way.

It sounds like my speakers are broken, sounds way distorted.
The problem is not there when i play movies, there the sound seems ok.

And if i play music via from another source via coax, it also seems ok...

I have tried to format my pch several times, without succes...

Anyone knows, what can be the problem?

Check the volume level. I have found that playing music via optical if I move the volume above 0 to +1 or +2 the sound is distorted.
