[100/200 Gaya] How to customise NMT "skins"

Dear A-100 beta-testers,

In last beta 080507, we have enabled "skinnability", basically
the ability for end-users to customise their own skins for the NMT.

Below are instructions how to do you own "skins", please feedback
if any issues:

1. Download _theme_.zip
2. Unzip and modify the existing graphics as you wish (but maintain
the dimension and filename)
3. Modify .config file in root of _theme_ folder to change the colors of the text, color attributes is same as in HTML, e.g. RRGGBB, #RRGGBB, "green", "white-alpha", "black"
4. Copy entire folder, _theme_ to your NMT HDD's Photo folder.
5. Reboot (Power+Eject) and new theme will be loaded.

Known limitation:

i) screensaver images (ssvr1.png~ssvr4.png) must be less than 20k,
due to internal limitation, will try to workaround in future.
ii) background image will be tiled if incorrect size.

For a quick trial I just swapped the background, bg.jpg. Worked out fine!

Perhaps you should consider to facilitate and host a user skin library, both for myiHome and the NMT itself, with screenshots, ratings, "top rated" etc.?

Just wodering the above info says:
"screensaver images (ssvr1.png~ssvr4.png"
Yet in the zip file they are jpg's extensions.

This is a GREAT idea and will hopefully encourage more people to get creative.

I am also having trouble getting the BETA emails (already PMed Syabas), can any one point me at the skin zip file?

Yes, as it is designed now it requires an internal HDD with a share in the root called Photo.

If you meant HD as in high-def; there is the same possibility for SD-skin too.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I meant Hard Drive. I was hoping not to have to install one in the PCH and add noise to the room.

why not add an 2,5" with an adapter

Can we have access to the 'buffering' image?

A lot of people don't like the popcorn logo, I don't mind, however skinning should let you change everything :]

I've created an orange skin; just adjusted the colours of the original.
Cant wait until we can change the font colour tho... it's a wee bit hard on the eyeballs.
