Alternative to Swisscenter?
Hi,

I've been using streamed media over my network for years - first with the Showcenter and now with my shiny new C-200. My question is: has anyone developed software that does what Swisscenter does? As far as I can tell it's the most fully functional software out there, pulling in data off thetvdb and giving synopses, images etc. It shows you what you have and haven't watched and is generally a superb bit of software. However it's VERY slow and can be somewhat frustrating, especially when you have a home server full of media.

I use MyiHome for streaming new files off my desktop but does anyone know of a decent streaming server as good or better than Swisscenter that I can use to handle my main archive?

thanks

RE: Alternative to Swisscenter?
In what ways is it slow: GUI, navigation, scanning of new media etc?

I'm not a Swisscenter user myself, but I'm convinced that the 'slow' experience can, at least partly, be quickened by altering configuration, disabling services/plugins not needed etc.

How big is your collection?
How is your 'change rate' on said collection?
What system resources are available for the streaming server?

These are things that will affect any jukebox using a database.

Perhaps your server/NAS is bogged down by a lot of other running services?
Perhaps there are Swisscenter 'skins' better suited for light use?

I like llink for it's simplicity, I've used Oversight too, and the mentioned UMC and YAMJ are the popular ones. In the NMT wiki you'll find quite a few more like Kroozbox, Movie Flow etc. etc.

Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.
Wiki. Wiki? Wiki!
