gaya / directfb / video memory
Hello,
I am still searching for a solution for the following problem. Gaya is a DirectFb based application There is no way to start a different DirectFB application from gaya as long as gaya is running There is no way to stop gaya , rather than killing the gaya process. Killing gaya does not properly releases the video memory occupied by gaya/directFb As a result, there is no way to stop/restart gaya several times without wasting the video memory until the system is not working properly. There could be a solution by reseting the video memory or framebuffer to release the memory, but I am not unix expert enough to figure out how to do so. Does anybody have an idea for that problem? - - Panasonic TH50PZ70E -Denon AVS1909 Sony PS 3 40GB-Octagon 1018-Logitech Harmony 885 Popcorn Hour A110+A200 Focal Suspense-JBL SUB 175 - T&A Pulsar TAV 500 - T&A Pulsar TAR 400 E 2 x NAS Intel SS4200 6TB each |

RE: gaya / directfb / video memory
First gaya is not a directfb application. Also Killing gaya does seem to release everything the SDK libraries ok for mvpmcx2/GBPVR client users
What is you definition of several? Martin |

RE: gaya / directfb / video memory
I think I might be on the same page and for me personally, if gaya isn't going to get updated in the future (ajax abilities, etc) then its holding some of us back and we need to start considering replacement options..

RE: gaya / directfb / video memory
I think I understand the problem better now. When I develop and run via telnet, as opposed to running from a cgi script. I see the some odd things after I shutdown but I've written that off to hardware signalling not directfb problems. To avoid this before I exit telnet I always killall gaya. I figured I could use nohup but that requires more thought.
Also after amp_test (which is the only directfb app) runs you probably also need to use losetup to close the loopback device it leaves open. Martin |

RE: gaya / directfb / video memory
Hi,
that hint with losetup loop device might point in the rigth direction. I will investigate in that direction - - Panasonic TH50PZ70E -Denon AVS1909 Sony PS 3 40GB-Octagon 1018-Logitech Harmony 885 Popcorn Hour A110+A200 Focal Suspense-JBL SUB 175 - T&A Pulsar TAV 500 - T&A Pulsar TAR 400 E 2 x NAS Intel SS4200 6TB each |
