Record and playback live TV
Does the popbox work with my cable provider's set top box? Does the cable box connect to the PopBox, and the popbox to the TV? ( there is a lot I don't know )
2nd question: My windows 7 PC use Media Center to record TV programs received from a Verizon FIOS cable box, where the PC has a cable card and a clunky IR cable that glues to the front of the cable box. Can the PopBox read the media center recorded content on the Win7 PC and play it on my TV? Where the PopBox effectively works as a media center extender. |

RE: Record and playback live TV
The Popbox is a dumbed down version of the NMT, it is not a multi-purpose capping/streaming device. The idea to make it simple enough for none enthusiasts and with premium services and contracts with those providers. Which service providers we don't know yet apart from Netflix and Youtube. Your cable will go to the TV seperate from the Popbox output.
The Popbox will play content from network devices although whether it will work with Windows Connect, I would have thought so, but i'm not definite. The NMT does however due to the poor choice of container and compatibility with formats/codecs it is best to use simple windows sharing. How that's done on the Popbox is still a mystery. There is a PopBox champion from Syabas that visits most days and does answer most queries. You'll have to wait and see if he does im afraid. We really could do with knowing more on how things are going to operate in terms of networking and the device server abilities. As far as recording the content, forget it as I can't see those premium service provider allowing them to be used on any device that can capture, can you? RE: Record and playback live TV
popbox does not connect via. coaxial cable. Your cable box might, but popbox uses HDMI, component, or composite inputs.
All you would do is change the input on the tv.
