Transfering files from the internal HDD on a USB Drive
Hi all,
I store a lot of my content on the internal drive in the PCH and I wanted to copy some of that content onto a external USB drive. However I press the file button on the remote and add the file and then when i go into the external drive to copy the file I don't get those options. However it works in reverse, I'm sure I've copied files from the internal onto an external before or am I dreaming? I would have thought if it worked in one direction it would work in the other. Thanks, Ryan |

RE: Transfering files from the internal HDD on a USB Drive
Is your USB device formatted with NTFS? Depending upon fw I think this is read-only for the 100-series NMT's, unless you install the ntfs3-g hack lundman did (available in the CSI: nmtinstaller.com).
It would explain why you can copy FROM your USB drive but not TO said drive, e.g. read-only support for NTFS. The NMT's are Linux based, so if your USB drive was formatted EXT2/3 you should be able to do the copying both ways too. Hope this helps. . Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? RE: Transfering files from the internal HDD on a USB Drive
If desperate, and you have a network, you could always attach the external USB drive to a PC and do the transfer that way. It'll be pretty slow, but maybe worth considering.

I guess I'II have to transfer things over the network but as I've only got access to wireless it's pretty slow but at least that's an option. Thanks for the advice. Ryan |

Formatted my external drive to ext3 - its then read write for the PCH If you've got a PC, though, you'll need to install something on your PC to be able to read the external HDD. This seems to be a popular option: http://www.fs-driver.org/. Be careful when accessing this from the PC, though. It is a lot more sensitive to file system errors - you need to make sure that you use the safely remove option in Windows before you unplug it. PCH A-110 with Samsung HD154UI 1.5TB |
